This is one of my favorite old commissions I drew. I usually don’t do this kinds of noodle inking but was really inspired by ol’ Swampy. Everything clicked with the brush on this one.

Without Mike, there would be no TREKKER. Simple as that. So his impact on my career has been immeasurable. And I know I’m not the only one who could say that.

May Mike’s next chapter be filled with more rich adventures.

So sorry that Mike Richardson is no longer at Dark Horse, the company he founded 40 years ago. He was a visionary, championing creator ideas and creator rights. What a legacy! He was a pleasure to work with and showed great support for Berger Books. Thanks for everything, Mike!

All I can say is: Dark Horse’s deal with Berger Books got me my start in comics. The first folks I ever worked with were Karen Berger, then directly with Mike on The Mask, a character he co-created. As a kid Dark Horse changed me; as a writer Dark Horse welcomed me. Eternally grateful to Mike.

I’m a bit sad to see Mike Richardson being ousted from his role at Dark Horse. I worked with him on a few books and was always grateful he let a young kid like me do the lettering for one of his creations, The Mask, which was so much fun to work on.

What a joy she was!

She loved coloring “Swampy” as she called the series. “My Blue Heaven” which she colored in only tonal shades of blue was a masterpiece. Also one of my favorite stories by Alan and Rick.

So sad to share that legendary colorist Tatjana Wood has passed away at the age of 99. Her pioneering painterly touch graced scores of DC & Vertigo series. She was truly one of a kind and a special friend. May her memory be a blessing.
