Great Easter revision session with Y11 today. We covered both writing tasks for English Language using debate about AI as our inspiration. I've uploaded to @litdrive.bsky.social in case it helps others. ❤️

Thank you so much for this incredible day. Please could you provide a link to the session slides on Litdrive? I'd really like to use the ideas to create some Easter revision sessions for my students. Thanks again 😀
Thank you for your session Chris. It was awesome!
Amazing day out at @litdrive.bsky.social for the Lauras of John Taylor Free School today 😁
So exciting to be attending the Litdrive conference tomorrow!
Come and join the supportive and passionate English Department at my amazing school in Tatenhill, Burton on Trent. Please message if you have any questions 😁. Sept start. We welcome requests for flexible working. johntaylorfreeschool.co.uk/join-our-team/
Hi Chris, we have a role available and are just outside Derby on the A38 South. Please encourage your teacher to get in touch with me if they have any questions 😁 johntaylorfreeschool.co.uk/join-our-team/
Really enjoyed using NotebookLM to create a two person podcast of all the British Library articles on Macbeth. Gives our students a different way into wider reading and took seconds. AI can be so useful!
So excited about this! Can't decide between all the talks ❤️
Just finished Julia by Sandra Newman. The novel retells Orwell's 1984 from Julia's perspective and (don't hate me for saying this) but it's a far more compelling read than the original. Just superb. Her will to survive! It had me absolutely captivated!
So I read a book every couple of weeks in 2024 but, embarrassingly for an English teacher, haven't read a single one of these. NYE resolution sorted! 😀👍📚 www.bbc.com/culture/arti...
Reading Orbital this Xmas break. I've never read a novel that impacts the reader as beautifully as if it's poetry. Continual evocative imagery and poignancy of single lines. Very hard to read without planning Paper 1 questions 🤣📚❤️
Hi Barbara, they really enjoyed debating if the examples in the piece were evidence of fanilect or not. They also spent time exploring links to gender theory and social groups theory. A popular one! Thank you 👍
Happy to send you feedback from the students ❤️
My A Level students will love this next week!
@englangblog.bsky.social Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has experience of supporting Y13s to prepare for the Cambridge linguistics entrance exam. I've downloaded papers for my student and we've been through one together in detail but would be grateful for any extra advice I can give her.
I'm reading this at the moment. Absolutely loving it. Imelda's story is my favourite so far...couple of hundred pages to go! I didn't find the lack of punctuation too intrusive, but I did have to focus hard and re-read bits at times. Helped me imagine her voice/ understand how overwhelmed she was.
Just booked tickets to #LitdriveCPD25 . So excited!
