Federal health care cuts mean Mainers will pay double, triple, or quadruple their normal health insurance premiums on the Affordable Care Act marketplace.

That's not freedom. That's highway robbery.

Public hearings set for next week on CMP rate hike proposal The average Maine family would see their electric bill rise by about $35 a month over the five-year period, according to Maine Public Advocate Heather Sanborn.

I agree wholeheartedly with Maine's Public Advocate. This is an eye-popping proposal from CMP, and it deserves thorough oversight. The bottom line: Mainers simply cannot afford a $35 increase per month ($420/year) added to our electric bills.

From USDA data, we know over one in ten Maine families were food insecure in 2021-2023.

Those families deserve to be able to put food on the table, and I promise to fight every day to make that happen.

USDA cancels survey tracking how many Americans struggle to get enough food The Department of Agriculture said it will end a longstanding annual food insecurity survey. Experts say the move will obscure the effects of recent changes that will lead to people losing food aid.

Hunger does not go away, even if the data that shows us who is food insecure is no longer tracked by the USDA.

Maine reproductive health care providers say freezing Title X funding will harm patients Title X supports reproductive and preventative health care for people with low incomes, including birth control, cancer screenings, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

Fewer Mainers will receive cancer screenings and family planning services if the withholding of these funds is allowed to stand.
