Books Robyn read in February include: The Long Game by Rachel Reid The Eye of Darkness by George Mann The End of All Things and The Shattering Peace by John Scalzi Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle

Not many books in February compared to others, but some excellent ones nonetheless. Chuck Tingle is one of the best writers out there - don’t pass him by because of the erotica, Bury Your Gays was incredible and I love all his horror fiction #booksky

I’ve been trying really hard to be positive about 2026 but so far I have:
- caught a horrid cold that’s only just going
- screwed up my back from coughing too much
- pulled my Achilles really badly and am hobbling around like a Walking Dead zombie

I’m due a lottery win or something, right?

I read SO many books in January but that’s because I went feral over the hockey gays. Found family was definitely a big theme in all my reading though, and I’m glad I finally got round to Downbelow Station - although that’s maybe why I wanted some happily ever afters next #booksky

I’ve read 4 out of 6 of Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series in about a week because apparently the gay hockey romances scratch the same itch in my brain that Yuuri on Ice did back in 2016

I have a cold and I’m feeling sorry for myself and oh no my hand slipped and I signed up to NOW to watch the gay hockey show

I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any books in January and then my finger slipped and whoops, got a copy of Cyteen by CJ Cherryh on the way

(In my defence it was only £3)

One of the best things you can do is go to the bookstore of a theatre/art gallery/niche museum and buy a book about something you've never heard of before, then realise that there are a million other worlds out there and - if you're lucky - you get to have the tiniest taste of each of them.

I read a lot of books in 2025!! My goal was 60 and I blitzed past that to 90. I read a lot of graphic novels from the library, which I am pretty excited about, and a ton of Ursula le Guin and Martha Wells (also very exciting).

Looking forward to what the TBR pile holds in 2026!

Oh they are for sure, but they’re such good fun. The second game in particular is brilliant, and it had a great multiplayer. Appreciate that crunch is the devil though

November’s books included a speedrun through the last Throne of Glass books because I couldn’t get enough, and the phenomenal Metal from Heaven - I cannot stop thinking about it. It was so weird, so lushly written, confusing as hell and yet utterly captivating. Absolutely stunning. #booksky

Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

My October reads include a lot of Batman and a hearty dose of Vampire the Masquerade sourcebooks, thanks to last month’s Humble Bundle. Will I play VtM in the next 12 months? Unlikely, but I love the setting. #booksky
