So absolutely, call yourself whatever you wish. If you find reclaiming those words powerful, great! Reclaiming words is an important part of anti-stigma work. But we should also be encouraging people to improve their vocabulary and be more precise in their words, especially in professional settings.

There's also usually better words to express what you mean. It's just lazy language.

It's also important to recognize how deeply tied crazy and insane are to the criminalization of mental illness that only ended in relatively recent history and how that can make individuals very uncomfortable. ...

This got me curious, so I did a bit of digging into the research literature. Overall, positively framed uses not describing a person are usually not considered stigmatizing.
