Last week I posted copy I wrote for a 60-second radio spot. Here it is. #voiceover #radio #advertising
I've been using Apple Logic for my audio work but recently I decided that for editing VO work, Adobe Audition was a better choice. Paying $25 a month doesn't really appeal to me but then again, I see it being worth the price for me and my personal workflow so I bit the bullet. #Voiceover #Adobe

I posted a video narration demo on YouTube. I've never done this sort of work before. I am more comfortable doing station ID work, spot commercials and podcasts but I figured I would give it a try. If someone likes it they can hire me :) #Audiosky #Voiceover
I recently moved and my pop filter didn't survive. Thankfully they aren't expensive. Another on order. My studio's almost ready. -65db noise floor. I run through the Rodecaster Duo as a safety (on my way to Audition). The iPad acts as my teleprompter. The Neumann TLM 103 is becoming my daily driver.

I don't think Bluesky is particularly well-suited to helping people share audio - unless I am missing something - but I did upload a read onto my Soundcloud account which I can share here.
Dry - no edits - Neumann TLM103

In Jan 2007, I co-hosted MacBreak Weekly at MacWorld (a now defunct tradeshow celebrating all things Mac) & we covered the original #iPhone launch. Hundreds of people came out to see us record the show - the first ever #podcast recorded and produced in Dolby Sound!
www.linkedin.com/pulse/does-y... #Podcasting revenue up a whopping 24% in 2024. Maybe your brand should consider running a podcast even if you don't hope to make subscription or ad revenue from the shows?

Read about a fictional man named "Homer" who stars in a commercial I wrote and prodced back in the 90s.
Thanks. Itβs my retirement job :)
I found this rubber mat at Costco that is intended for standing desk owners - but when spending time recording VO, it makes my feet happy - standing desk or no. #voiceover
This is interesting for those in the USA - buy audio books with a difference #audiobooks
It's an exciting week. The moving truck arrives today with all my studio gear packed inside and I can finally record.
Also got my new #businesscards. Yeah I know - the idea of using a business card is outdated to some - but I still find them to be effective so I will continue to use them.

Have you ever heard of SCAMPER? It's a story telling tool that I wrote about on LinkedIn.
www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-bu... Here's an article I wrote over at LinkedIn about how and why businesses are using #podcasting.

Everyone who records sound loves to talk microphones, pre-amps, plug-ins, etc. But if your room sucks - i.e., you have a loud noise floor because you've got sound bouncing off the walls, it won't matter how good your mic is.
I use Clearsonic SORBER panels and they are a great investment. #Audiosky
Times sure have changed. Back in the day when my pal Lynda was running her training company she hired me to do some training on podcasting using - wait for it - #GARAGEBAND ! There were no big national players in podcasting back then. It was more like the days of pirate radio and I sure do miss it.
Back around 2016, I started the Photo Podcast Network with my pal, Marco Larouse. We launched w/ four podcasts. In 2017, I was offered a chance to be president of a photography software company so I turned over PPN to Marco. It survived the pandemic and still publishes #podcasts to this day.
Bluesky loves links! We don't downrank, and major publishers report that we're sending more link traffic than other sites.
Here's the top links shared on Bluesky, updated hourly.

Feeling nostalgic. This was my last episode of MacBreak Weekly on TWIT - it was 2017. My first episode was way back in 2006.
Working with Leo Laporte and friends taught me a great deal about the power of #podcasting.

What are the best music/sfx libraries that are cleared for commerical work? #audiosky
Thursday VO Tip: Offer your voice to a charity. Not only do you improve someone's life, but it also demonstrates to your clients that you are engaged in the community and care enough to make a difference. #voiceovers
Thanks Terry.
Anyone using Twisted Wave for VO / Audio Production? Seems like it's got pretty low overhead and that it's perfect for VO. I am tired of ProTools and Logix Pro X seems like overkill when laying down nothing but voice. #audioproduction #audiosky
I've been testing mic pre-amps for self-noise. I found the #Rode Rodecaster (Duo and Rodecaster Pro - which use the same pre-amps) have the best results under $800. In fact they compete with much, much, much more expensive units. #audiosky
I have always dabbled in radio or radio-like forms of expression and always used it as a side hustle. But since I was aged out of my "real" job, I've turned to VO work to fight back. Nobody knows my age simply by listening to my voice. It's liberating. But in any event, #Oldguysknowstuff :)
First VO post here on Bluesky. Going to start working seriously on my #voiceover business. Took a break but now back at it. Decided to splurge on my first #Neumann. I bought a TLM 103. King of the proximity effect :) Believe it or not I still love the Rode NT1 5Th Gen for general use. #audiosky
