The process was a true collaboration. Thank you to everyone who contributed to bringing it to life especially @geist for their expanded visual identity work which includes new bespoke Anthropic Sans & Serif typefaces by Chester Jenkins at BSPK.
New model, new website! DBCo feel privileged to have been asked by the talented team at @anthropic.com to design and build a brand new Claude dot com to coincide with the launch of Sonnet 4.5. Link in π§΅
Although weβve experienced a modest breakthrough in understanding how these tools might evolve our offerings, we still very much feel like we are in the "don't know what we don't know" phase. We are excited to continue sharing our successes, failures, and learnings along the way.
We believe the most powerful outcomes happen when we combine our uniquely human capacity for intuitive, lateral thinking with the efficiency and scale of modern technology. It is this blend of ingenuity and innovation that makes us optimistic about the tools we are exploring.
At DBCo, we think AI and other emerging technologies have an increasingly important role to play in our workflows. Crucially, we see this role not as replacing human creativity, but rather as freeing us to focus on what humans do best: discovering meaning and creating beauty.
Those experiments yielded a custom GPT, trained on a tapestry of references: brand strategy, narrative, positioning, product vision, cultural and technical artifacts, and relevant writings dating back to the 1960s. We selected these materials for their lateral relevance to the problem.
Recently, we experienced something close to a breakthrough moment on how we leverage AI tools early in the process to define voice and visual expression. We're calling this our "Construct Brand Intelligence System."
We've written more about our experiments here: open.substack.com/pub/designbu...
We are deeply curious about emerging tech and how It can evolve our creative practice and add value for our clients. As such, we're continually exploring ways to bridge the gap between the strategic design work we deliver and the ongoing work our clients continue after our engagement concludes.
As Carl Sagan famously said, "there are things we know, things we don't know, and things we don't know we don't know." That description feels especially relevant as we collectively wrestle with AI and how to incorporate it into our work.
We found many ways to turn code into interactive art for the GitHub Shop. One of our favorite details? An ASCII generator that transforms images into pure, character-based artβlightweight, performant, and just plain fun. Link to the code below.
Happy valentines from Design Business Company π

We drew inspiration from the REPL (Read-Evaluate-Print Loop), reflecting @replitβs mission to empower builders to transform ideas into apps at lightning speedβcapturing the magic of bringing ideas to life through code.
sometimes our job feels like this
Photography and art direction we executed from Loom's pop up shop in 2022. Big challenge to keep this creative while maintaining a tight budget, but we were able to dip most of our energy into our key product (the Cancelled Meetings Candle) and keep the rest in studio.

Hereβs the full, pixelated, sassy fam...
Together with @abcdinamo.bsky.social, we created a custom font for ReplitβDiatype Replit Screen: a modern nod to the pixelated roots of programming.
yeah it does kinda haunt us
The best part about running a design studio is working with your friends: last year we got to help our friend Andy at Moff's Pizza build out their pizza truck. Absolute dream job.
Our work for the Github shop brings the artistry of code to life with playful, interactive details crafted for developers.
One example? The interactive footer, featuring a custom ASCII logo we built in three.js.
many of you have been asking us about our home office setups. take a look!

More from our work on @github Shop. We built a design system to set a new baseline of excellence: a robust type system, a component and animation library, and a color theming system that allows room to grow β all while meeting a high bar for accessibility .
From art direction to prop selection, we partnered with GitHub at every stage to refine and elevate the GitHub Shopβs house photography style.
Each shot highlights the fit and finish of their products, while staying true to the design and detail that developers expect from GitHub. πΈ Cayce Clifford
For GitHub Shop, we didnβt just build a storeβwe built a playground for developers.
One of our favorite hidden details is search input that transforms into an interactive CLI, letting developers shop, navigate, and even checkoutβall with code.
GitHub has been a constant for usβand millions of developersβfor years.
Thatβs why designing the new @github Shop felt personal. As developers ourselves, we built it with care, craft, and hidden gemsβour tribute to the community who inspire us.
