Fifteen years ago today, on January 22, 2011, the Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting took place in the concert hall of the Payne & Mencias Palladium. This ceremonial dedication of the building opened the facility to the public. Former Mayor Brainard and the Carmel Brass performed.

Fifteen years ago today, the first notes rang out in the Payne & Mencias Palladium. Hoagy Carmichael’s "Star Dust" was performed by then-mayor Jim Brainard on French horn, accompanied by Artistic Director Michael Feinstein on piano, in an event billed as "First Notes."
