And I do believe there is the will and desire, but there is no specific advocacy for spouses to raise these issues through CAF/DND…
So nothing happens until something terrible happens.
Because the institutional structure of CAF still marginalizes spouses through stuff like this. 🤐🫥

Notice how CAF supports the member in incidences of IPV (whether perpetrators or victims) - there are no commitments for family, despite statistically likely dependencies on income, housing, insurance, etc.

The epidemiology says it’s an epidemic, as does prov/fed gov & agencies.
Military spouses are uniquely vulnerable given military life easily lends itself to coercive control.
CAF isn’t really comparable to the public in this context - critical risk factors are already present :/

I testified at a hearing just last year where I was repeatedly asked if I thought “domestic violence was a problem” & “do you think it’s an epidemic” (as per authorities).
Sadly, it didn’t even upset me because I don’t expect better anymore.
