To be fair, this city doesn't deserve any sugar-coating, and I feel bad for the people who actively try to revitalize it. You'd need to jettison about 2/3 of the people for that to work.
Yet it's a fascinating place, and it deserves someone a bit less humdrum than Russo to chronicle it.
