Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?
Itโs not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Post from Matt Turnbull: These are really challenging times, and if youโre navigating a layoff or even quietly preparing for one, youโre not alone and you donโt have to go it alone. I know these types of tools engender strong feelings in people, but I'd be remiss in not trying to offer the best advice I can under the circumstances. Iโve been experimenting with ways to use LLM AI tools (like ChatGPT or Copilot) to help reduce the emotional and cognitive load that comes with job loss. Here are some prompt ideas and use cases that might help if you're feeling overwhelmed: Career Planning Prompts: โAct as a career coach. Iโve been laid off from a [role] in the game industry. Help me build a 30-day plan to regroup, research new roles, and start applying without burning out.โ โWhat kinds of game industry jobs could I pivot to with experience in [Production/Narrative/LiveOps/etc.]?โ Resume & LinkedIn Help โHereโs my current resume. Give me three tailored versions: one for AAA, one for platform/publishing roles, and one for startup/small studio leadership.โ โRewrite this resume bullet to highlight impact and metrics.โ โDraft a new LinkedIn โAbout Meโ section that focuses on my leadership style, shipped titles, and vision for game development.โ Networking & Outreach โDraft a friendly message I can send to old coworkers letting them know Iโm exploring new opportunities.โ โWrite a warm intro message for reaching out to someone at [studio name] about a job posting.โ Emotional Clarity & Confidence โIโm struggling with imposter syndrome after being laid off. Can you help me reframe this experience in a way that reminds me what Iโm good at?โ No AI tool is a replacement for your voice or your lived experience. But at a time when mental energy is scarce, these tools can help get you unstuck faster, calmer, and with more clarity. If this helps, feel free to share with others in your network. Stay kind, stay smart, stay connected.
Matt Turnbull, Executive Producer at Xbox Game Studios Publishing - after the Microsoft layoffs - suggesting on Linkedin that may maybe people who have been let go should turn to AI for help. He seriously thought posting this would be a good idea.
An exploit for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2 allows players to summon almost anything via Autobuild Sharing. No modding is involved; all it takes is the right QR code to bring forth a legion of new friends.
got scammed by this practice only by Adobe: no other SaaS did this with me before or after. I swear I signed up to a monthly plan: but in the fine print apparently it was โannual, paid monthly, cancel for a fee (that we wonโt tell you how much it is).
Meanwhile the FTC: www.ftc.gov/news-events/...
NEVER buy anything Adobe. Adobe is the example of what greed does to a company.
No matter how outraged people are; no matter that the FTC is suing Adobe and executives for this practice; Adobe keeps doing it.
I got scammed by this same practice in 2020 the same way: I switched to Affinity instead.
Also this was actually the first and only time I have seen strangers play my game in real life. Have yet to see Balatro in the wild. So as far as I'm concerned y'all are just Truman Show-ing me
one of my fav moments from GDC - they had a booth set up to play Balatro since it was an award nominee. I watched for a bit then I gave it a go myself. Crushed a white stake run
someone approached me as I was about to leave
'Wow you must have played this before!'
'I guess you could say that'
me: i want to __________
๐ง : so make a plan
me: no plan. only do
Good test, definitely could've gotten away with less supports, and it needs a little clean up.
But gang, I have obliterated his dickhole. Huge success.
No no, that's what we do too
Every time I use Obsidian I think to myself "I really must learn to effectively use Obsidian" and then spend half an hour minimum down the Obsidian Help rabbit hole, looking at how to do the things that I've yet again forgotten.
For my very first post on Bluesky: Fuck Perforce and fuck how we incorrectly use it.
While we're at it, fuck Ruby, too. Who d'ya think you are, like. Never liked your syntax and your yield is basically syntactic sugar.
