If you haven't yet changed how you teach and evaluate thanks to AI, you probably need to. This is not something that educators asked to happen, but it is worth noting what is out there - in this case an OpenClaw tool designed to cheat.

I am looking for a PhD student in energy economics starting in the fall, focusing on household-level energy use and energy poverty.

On AI & water, it looks like all US data center usage (not just AI) ranges from 628M gallons a day (counting evaporation from dam reservoirs used for hydro-power) to 200-275M with power but not dam evaporation, to 50M for cooling datacenters alone.
So not nothing, but also a lot less than golf.

We're hiring! Postdoc positions in environmental econ, political econ, microeconomic theory, U of Oslo: econjobmarket.org/positions/12.... Brilliant & friendly colleagues, lovely city, beautiful nature, family friendly norms, Oslo's best views from our lunch room!
Indeed Alistair, same editors and scope, new channel. And open access too!
After Elsevier cut off the tap for the journal Water Resources and Economics in 2024, the research is flowing again, with the launch of the independent new journal, Journal of Water Economics. Edited by the same team, backed by U. Waterloo. #Econsky π

The good news is that the editorial board continued after Elsevier ditched us; this week we launched the Journal of Water Economics:
www.journalofwatereconomics.com
Open access, no APC, and no Elsevier.
Decent summary of "... a consideration of the investment of our finite publishing resources on this journal vs other journals in our list."
If I was a tutoring company and I wanted to convince you that I could teach your kids maths, I would probably not have an advert that said β3=2β on it!
Thatβs just me though.
This is a problem.
I messed up on my teaspoon conversion, it is 9 teaspoons of water for a query (OpenAI reported 1/15 of a teaspoon). So equivalent to 0.001875% of a hamburger.
'Forever chemicals' are seeping into waterways across Europe. A vanishingly small, man-made molecule resists all attempts of removal. How will the EU eradicate the pollution? www.ft.com/content/a36c...
This Chatham House report notes the Indus supplies 80% of Pakistan's irrigated agriculture -- a system already under grave threat due to climate change. Last year, a severe drought hurt several crops in the country's breadbasket, while Pakistanis were still recovering from previous flooding.
2) we gaan onderzoek doen (tja)

Most likely. Sounds like a cool paper, maybe I should write it.
Just received my first hallucinated cite, a "hallucite"?
I am pretty sure this paper does not exist:

Just a few days left to apply to this 3-year postdoc position in environmental economics at @vusbe.bsky.social to work with me on the economics of water management (drought, contract design, nature based solutions, experiments, etc). Application deadline: May 15.

Title Authors Abstract (Decision under Risk are Decisions Under Complexity: Comment)
A new working paper with Daniel Banki, @urisohn.bsky.social and Robert Walatka, just submitted to SSRN.
The paper is comment on Ryan Oprea's recent AER paper.
The paper is processing, but you, my friends, get early entry.

Just think, this could have all been avoided if he had just done a PhD in Sweden
