A few years ago I wrote an article for @aeon.co about how French philosopher Henri Bergson's lectures in the early 20th century attracted a huge number of women and how their enthusiasm fuelled a backlash against him: aeon.co/essays/henri...

I think I hurt my knee dancing at the Geese concert. Time for a mid-life crisis

I just saw Geese. Believe the hype
My review of @emilyherring.bsky.social Herald of a Restless Age was selected as one of the top four pieces in “Theory & Criticism” for the LARB's 15-year anniversary edition.
It’s a love letter to my favorite philosopher, Henri Bergson.

I'm looking to interview some non-American musicians or bands who've decided not to tour in the U.S. this year because of ICE. Please hit my DMs if you are willing to chat about this decision.
What is your favourite focus music? Asking for me who is pulling an all nighter at the working on a thing factory
My book about Bergson! Reviewed! In the New York Times! What a time to be alive! My book is described as "lively and deft"! 🤓

The older I get the more I vibe with techno. What's that about?
I’ve just read @emilyherring.bsky.social’s excellent biography of Bergson, Herald of a Restless World, and now I want a bowler hat.

I have achieved this by removing apps from my phone and using site blockers because the addiction is bad
This is probably really an annoying post but I have massively decreased my social media usage, in particular anything that involves scrolling, and I have to say, as an anxiety sufferer, I feel better for it.
If the brain doesn’t store memories, where are they? Why do we summon the past into the present? Henri Bergson explored these questions. Doudja Boumaza (Grenoble) is at The Memory Palace today encouraging us all to revisit Bergson’s answers. Enjoy!

“What a pity that everything we say to each other is always the same; the ideas we exchange are just alike in every conversation we have; yet inside each of these isolated machines, what hidden passageways, what secret compartments! Each man bears a whole world within himself! a world nobody knows that’s born and dies in total silence! What solitudes these human bodies are!” Alfred de Musset Fantasio

This is what all the cool people are doing
