I'm listening to the audiobook of The Oak And the Larch, and the descriptions of Russia's forests and the peoples that belong to it are so beautiful.

I feel like Anastasia Krupnik should be referenced more.
Well done Gorton and Denton! I want to live in the world where we vote for anti-racing plumbers who rescue greyhounds, not the politics of hate.
Also, when I think seriously about Your Party, I genuinely feel annoyed. Britain's in a desperate place, needs a strong Left, & YP has been so self-indulgent. So it's easier for me to consider YP an elaborate performance art meditation on the Left's tendency to eat itself.
Why, still, are Your Party.
Anything else is too much.
*Obviously I don't really think this. But the world's a blazing wheelie bin, and that genre is specifically unthreatening.
All reality TV should be banned* except for the early evening on Channel 4 type genre, where Brits mildly bicker on coaches. Or go stay at one anothers B&Bs in Blackpool and the Cotswolds, and relentlessly check the bedroom they're given in case they find a hair.
I liked how she rolled out the word 'psychodrama.' The not very good president of the sixth form debate club was feelin' fancy.
"The British public are tired of political psychodrama and so am I"

I don't want to hear about the diet you're on to lose weight, and I don't want to explicitly be told I might want to try it, or implicitly have it hint-hint-hinted at me that it really worked for you, and maybe I might be interested.
I hate how beauty standards in Protestant countries lean Aryan and instead of acknowledgment of that, there's normalisation.
..
It's IMO unhelpful at best to keep throwing 'Keep positive' at people dealing with systemic oppression / or chastising them for not being positive enough.
It's also okay, healthy, to have boundaries for what one has capacity for in terms of others.
Both those things can be true.
and sigh, clearly that was meant to say 'suspended,' not 'suspected'. but the ominous vibes of 'suspected' kinda works since apparently we're now implying bluesky is a tolalitarian regime. not the actual dystopia we live in. bluesky. always disappearing people.
'disappeared' as per stalin's regime:
/suspected from bluesky:
clearly same same
I'm not saying I think the squirrel who visits my garden definitely left me this acorn as a gift, but I'm not not saying that.
I guess I must have looked perceptibly pained as I tried to communicate through fatigue and noise. At that point the receptionist asked if I was okay/struggling. I explained I was fatigued and struggling with the noise. She whisked me off into a quiet side room to wait for my appointment.
I was in outpatients for an appointment the other day. I was exhausted and (non-contagiously) ill. Outpatients that day was understandably loud and busy. The more fatigued I am the more sensitive to e.g. noise. It's also not on the NHS patients/staff that, fair enough, it was busy.
When people, esp women and femmes, warn each other about predators, society shames 'em by calling it 'Gossip.' It's a term that's fairly sexist in how it gets applied ime.
Also: when oppressed people speak up about oppression they experience, people w/ more power call it 'moaning.'
Something cool about people calling Mamdani a Communist is apparently the word 'Communist' just means whatever we feel like.
I look forward to when Your Party organise a piss-up in a brewery. I am confident they'll do a seamless job.
Tankies on the Left are so embarassing.
Can we resurrect Harold Wilson.
2025:
I feel like Captain Planet failed in his mission.
& separately, not as some whole answer, but because it's necessary, i believe in minority joy - if it can be summoned. (if i can't, no failing). in a society that wants minorities to disappear, or to exist silent & assimilated, minority joy becomes resistance, subversion, life...
i really liked that one aesthetically (one of my favourite things about black mirror is how visually pleasing some of the episodes are) but it really stressed me out! i <3 san junipero forever
i never finished that whole episode. but they're doing a sequel to uss callister this series!
as long as we don't have to live in the sequel (who knows, these days?) i'm ready for it
i'm (genuinely) looking forward to the new series of black mirror coming out this year, but also by this point just livestreaming the actual news would probably be fairly same/same
Shoutout to the early noughties when lesbian bars were still a thing, dating websites hadn't yet fully caught on in straight culture & swipe apps hadn't yet taken over.
We used the net to look at cats. We'd tell each other on MSN Messenger we'd BRB like we were low-key Terminators. Halcyon days.
