A small corvid (crow) with pinkish plumage and a bright blue wing patch on its black and white wing. It's perched on a tree branch and its beak is open because it was calling.

Local birding. A Jay in the trees by the station car park at Quadrant House this morning - it was quite vocal for a while, but I'm not sure why! #londonbirds #birds

Local birding. Blue Tits looking like they will nest again in a hole by a vent above the Sutton Arms in Sutton High Street. They've done so here for many years. The pub is now closed/for sale, but hopefully nothing will happen there for the time being - I'll keep watch in case. #londonbirds #birds

4/4. Adult male checking out what's left of the prey that the juvenile had been eating. Although not in this clip, he clearly decided there was nothing worth eating, as it was still there after he'd gone.

Sutton Peregrines. 1/4. This morning the juvenile male was feeding on the wall near the camera. His father had been on camera shortly before. His mother was present some of the time he was feeding, and his father investigated what was left of the food later this afternoon.

I got my copy in Waterstones Piccadilly on Thursday - oddly, although it's available to order, they've not stocked it yet in any of the more local stores.

3/3. We were never able to fully read his ring from the webcam, but partial reads do indicate it was likely the male here since 2023. Future webcam views will confirm this one way or the other. Despite a difficult start, he/they raised and fledged 6 chicks (2 in '24, 4 in '25). Images from 2025.

2/3. This looks like the unringed resident female and a new unringed male (though the photos are not conclusive). Sadly, a Peregrine was found grounded in Morden Hall Park on 20/01 and taken to Wildlife Aid where it was euthanised due to it's injuries. It was ringed at Woking in 2017.

Morden Peregrines. 1/3. I spent some time on site this afternoon and saw 2 birds (just one initially), and then they mated, so it's looking good for breeding again this year! Hopefully the webcam will be live soon. #londonbirds

3/3. The adult male had been feeding on the wall when another adult male arrived. He made the intruder alarm calls and took off in pursuit. There was some close contact at times and both went off out of view. He was safely back a bit later.

2/2. flying over. A short while after this, another Peregrine appeared, and the lack of concern from the adults confirmed it was the juvenile male. He flew around a bit, sometimes close to where his parents were perched, but also chased after Pigeons around the adjacent flats.

Sutton Peregrines. 1/2. An interesting visit this am. The adult male was on the NE vent ledge and was joined by the female who landed on the lift block. The male then went to the wall above the nest site. There was then some brief alarm calling and that alerted me to a Buzzard

2/2. The chicks last year hatched between 27/04 and 01/05, meaning he is, or will soon be, 10 months old! A little later I saw all three perched on Quadrant House (initially the juvenile, then the adult male, and short while later the adult female also arrived). Photos: all 3, F, Juv, M.

Sutton Peregrines. 1/2. There were some lovely views of the juvenile male on camera early this morning. He'd followed his father in and then took some cached prey from him which he (the juvenile) spent about 15 minutes eating.

4/4. There was another mating later which was captured on camera. There has also been some courtship displaying, and the female has been doing a bit of scraping in the gravel too, but I've not added photos/videos as this post is already quite long!

3/4. The resident bird didn't chase after it and once the intruder had left the area, and the resident female had settled down, I though they might indulge in some bonding courtship, or hopefully mate again, and they did! This time it was on the lift block, and I was ready.
