There's so much that doesn't reach the level of national news media. One example is that anti-ICE school walkouts are happening every day across the country, but are really only covered by local news. And those walkouts are *meant* to be highly-visible actions. Most community organizing is not!

I just generally think the antidote to dooming and feelings of helplessness is getting involved in any way. It can be as a poll worker, doing ICE watch, running for local office, helping with mutual aid, whatever.
You can get so much accomplished in your town or city if you just get involved.

It's counterintuitive, but people thrive on believing awful things. Take it from someone who is often told (in her private life) that she's catastrophising. I know what these spirals are like from the inside.
They're awful, but they're addictive because they give you the illusion of mastery.
My experience with my Local has been that we just don't have capacity to engage with people on social media past posting 🥲 we've only recently started allocating staff time to comms so it's not completely volunteer-driven. Hoping that means we can have someone on point for social media engagement

The basic sequence of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday is not in dispute: A Honda Pilot reversed, then moved forward; an ICE agent was close to the vehicle; the agent fired shots. A 37-year-old woman was killed. But that sequence has been interpreted in radically different ways. Was the officer struck by the vehicle, as President Trump insists, or did the car pass by or around him? Was he positioned in front of the vehicle or to the side? Did he have a genuine, reasonable fear for his life in that moment, or did he create the very danger he then used lethal force to escape?
