similar story with my family's puggle. she'd been returned before we got her, and within 5 minutes of us taking her home, she was on the counter eating cheese and crackers. she's 15 now, but still (almost) as much of a hellfire. this picture is from when my mom would take her to school on Halloween

when i told him no, just research and teaching, he said "ah, so you'll just be a cog in the machine." i reminded him that we live in a socially constructed world, so everyone is a cog on some level. evidently that was the wrong answer 😂

reminded this morning of a conversation i had with my uncle when i was applying for grad schools. i told him i wanted to do media and relationship research and he asked if that meant i was going to become a couples counselor...

not sure if i count because i'm barely an academic, but i helped with WSUC The Dragon (SUNY Cortland)

mental health break? you bet it did

i also really enjoy making art when i have the creative energy to do so. i've dabbled in fiber arts, but mostly i do abstract work and stylized self-portraits

in the spirit of academics being people outside their work, here are a few introductory things about me:

>i'm a big nerd--specifically for star wars and pokemon
>i think there are few (if any) words that can match the expressive power of "fuck"

The point of art is to create and express something. Technical skills (anatomy, perspective, etc) are good, but only insofar as they serve that goal. What gives art its value is the impression it makes, not the artist's skill.
