@joemussatto.bsky.social Hello Joe! Hope all is well.
Curious whether Coach Daigneault ever talked about this in his media availability appearances? I tried to follow along, but never caught any quotes about this concept.

It was Game 49 of the regular season and the OKC Thunder were winning end-of-quarter situations where the opponents had the last shot.
How is that even possible!? They (and others) stick to one defensive principle, which has changed NBA basketball.

Truly hope that Don Buse and Alvin Robertson are monitoring the STL% of Dyson Daniels.
@neilpaine.bsky.social I see some striking similarities between that and your article, where the threat of 3s influence better 2s, and vice versa.
Do you think there is a way to quantify that? It makes me wish for a @synergysports.bsky.social stat "Drives (Including Passes)".
@neilpaine.bsky.social Neil, hope all is well.
Enjoyed the "too many 3-pointers" piece. It made me think of smth. Whenever I do some Synergy work, I frequently land at the "Spot Up Three > Spot Up drive" quandary. Yet, obviously, those drives frequently are the ones to create good Spot Up looks.
Wow! What a pull, Mike!
It never ceases to amaze me that in the year of 2024 it's still possible to come up with such corrections.
Yes, that must be it. If my memory serves me correctly, there were people asking follow-ups, where Sugar Ray further stood by this.
I KNOW. And are we sure about Micheal Williams?
Should we track him down? Do we get on a plane tomorrow to ask him this question? "Are you a Micheal or a Michael?"
He tweeted earlier this year that apparently his name was spelled wrong his whole life. So he insisted that he's Michael, not Micheal.
So I don't know what to believe in anymore.
Always ready for a rabbit hole of Randy Smith vs. Ron Boone (NBA unfairly not counting ABA games) vs. A.C. Green (more than once subbed in just for the sake of the streak) as the definite Iron Man!
And there probably isn't one right answer.
I was thinking about the rest of the Mavs who suddenly have to make a large share of 4v3 decisions versus that defense.
Any quantitative reason to believe that blitzes could tire out ball handlers, @deanolytics.bsky.social ?
You see DAL going up 8-0 early, getting Spot Up corner looks and catch yourself thinking that this is too easy for Luka.
Yet OKC keeps just coming at you until the mistakes start piling up. Makes me wonder whether there's something about them that just exhausts you. And does the data prove that.
Alright! Thanks for the insight, Josh! Sounds like teams are not that much in secrecy mode. For now, perhaps :)
Best: Content around it. Drives a lot of people to be involved.
Worst: I'll mention a particular pet peeve of mine surrounding the way-too-long endings. Live-ball timeouts. Kills the flow, helps bail out teams on the edge of a mistake and hard to officiate (LAL-PHO Cup game).
A great read, Josh. Thanks! The subject matter made it quite different than the regular NBA piece.
I'm curious. Was everyone ready to fully share everything with you or are there elements of secret to these facilities as well?
Look him up on @basketball-reference.com, only to see that @johnhollinger.bsky.social should be happy enough. The Wild Bull of the Pampas nickname is there!
Huh, I didn't even think of that.
Well... Never too late to retroactively say that for a moment there he had this record, before J.Kidd trumped him.
Maybe even locate him, call him and congratulate him on such a trivial matter?
I'm somewhat sure that it actually would make it an NBA record at that moment for single-game turnovers before a couple of guys registered 14.
Doing legendary work, Mike!
Hope this helps the greater good at bk-ref.
Yup! A very good point that I also found on newspapers.com.
Which would make it more improbable. That LAL had 43 possessions ending in turnovers + an extra 25 shots denied in a winning effort.
A weird boxscore all around I must say.
@sportinfo247.bsky.social Hey Mike! Hope all is well.
Was rummaging around on @basketball-reference.com and found this boxscore. Does that amount of BLKs for Seattle look right for you? Would be an NBA record then.

Buddy Hield's fit in Steve Kerr's offense has been seamless.
The sheer gravity of him gave fits even for the league-leading OKC defense. Just like Steph, he doesn't even need to touch the ball.
Golden State basketball. Still beautiful.
I don't know how to start this...
Suppose we could reach deep in the YT vault and say Happy Birthday to Chris Childs. Anyone remember him blowing up on the Nets after the Kenny Anderson trade?
