how does anyone actually work on the stuff that is their dissertation work when all these mandatory side quests keep popping up

does anyone have resources for the Andor Basic coding language? everything online keeps referencing a programming manual but i cannot for the life of me find it online 😅

any recs for a class/summer school/workshop on coding best practices? part of my dissertation work is creating a new python package (exciting!!) and i want to have the skills to be a “good” coder the whole way through :)

There is no reward for centering outreach and education and like I know that. It just still hurts.

I know it’s all a crapshoot and it’s only getting worse but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t feel so defeating to have applied for so many grants and fellowships in the past four years and gotten literally nothing.

Myself and my colleagues (members of our grad student phys/astro org) reached out to members of the department asking for words of reassurance, policies, plans, anything! Nothing received except an offer to come talk or vent whenever we need to, which is what we do for each other already.
