Sounds great, Viktor! Gorgeous melodies and really nice use of tension/release. Are you working in Cakewalk Sonar? If so, it’s always nice to see a professional using Sonar. I think that software has never gotten the recognition it deserves.

So much this! I’m working on an album and I’m planning to go mostly old-school on marketing. No streaming except for some YouTube videos. Music you buy and own, recommended by reviews from people who listen to music because it’s important. I’m hoping Wax absolutely rocks. We need lots of this!

And they fall under your fingers really easily on sax. Technically easy, but sounds outrageous.

Same with playing a C whole tone scale over a C7: there are only 2 whole tone scales. After that you’re just playing one of those 2 scales starting on a different note.

Not quite. Play C7 on the keys and play a C augmented triad against it (C-E-G#). You could throw in the 7th (Bb), but the cool thing about this triad lick is that there are only 3 arpeggios of augmented triads (after that, you’re repeating the same pattern starting on a different note).

A C whole tone scale will do the same thing. I “borrowed” that lick from a solo in a Tower of Power song I heard years ago. (Apologies if I’m telling you stuff you already know.)

The video is great, too. I love that 7b5 sound. Here’s another cool one: play an augmented arpeggio against a V7 (e.g., play a C7 on a keyboard and let it ring out, then play up and down C-E-G# over it). The root is there, the third is there, but that #5 just screams “I’m outside!”

In the first two years of theory class I was often thinking “Oh, so that’s what you call that sound.” Those who know the sounds and just need to learn the reasoning/names behind the sounds are gonna love your course!

Are your typical students people who leaned to play guitar/keys by ear and want to learn the theory behind it? I played pop/rock guitar by ear for 8 years, then studied sax/woodwinds in college.

I don't really have the ears or equipment to do serious mastering, but it's helpful to hear the tracks I'm working on with a mastering process applied so I have a better idea of where I might want to tweak my mixes before sending it to a mastering studio.

You load your stereo mixes into it, choose a preset, tweak the settings, and it will allow you to master an entire album to the same specs. Click the question mark icon in the lower right corner to open the manual. Attached are a couple of screen shots.

If you want a free option that runs locally, I would recommend bx_mastering-studio from Brainworx (available for Mac and Windows). To get it for free, you have to create an account with Plugin Alliance. It's fully functional and not time-limited or anything like that. (Link below.)
