Pirates should double down on SP and trade for Sandy Alcantara. Empty the system to get him. Build the best rotation in franchise history for the next 3 years. I wouldn't even care that they'd average 3.94 runs per game or whatever. Best player theoretically available.
Andrew Heaney for 5.25 plus incentives is a good deal, surprised it wasn't more like 8. Talented staff, one possible flaw was innings. I feel better about that now. A very rare good Ben Cherington moment. Oviedo likely moves to pen as he builds up from TJ. This makes them better on paper.
why am I getting cooked by smidges is it over for me
Might be in on Horwitz now. 2 is one of the better one digit numbers. I think I would rank them 3, 7, 2, 8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 1. I think you could make a case to rank 4 higher. Of course, 1, 4, 8 and 9 are retired here.
0 is a wild card, you need extreme aura to make 0 work.

Labeling this as a must read for Pirates fans. Cruz is freaky. A 6'7 guy who hits high velo fastballs up in the zone better than Juan Soto. He's shortening his swing by almost 20% against them!
Sooooo, Austin Hays>Grichuk>>>>>>Verdugo. If Hays is healthy, I think he's the best player of that trio. If these are the FA available to them, I think I still want them to be poking around on trades for at least a guy you can pair with one of the three.
to honor John Grabow of course
Sooooooo is 39 getting retired?
With Goldy going to NYY I can easily see the rest of the 1B market playing out like this
Alonso - Mets
Santana - Arizona
Seattle makes a trade (Diaz maybe?)
Bell - Minnesota
Solano - whatever team winds up looking for a RHH corner guy come February. Nationals? Pirates?
I am once again advocating for the Pirates to go after Jurickson Profar
30 year-old reliever Cody Poteet is going back to the Cubs. Yankees will also receive $5 million in cash.
Luigi was never going to be a Pirate for long....
SOURCES - Luigi Mangione is in Altoona. He has been promoted to AA from High-A Greensboro.
A Rizzo signing would be a special kind of hell because they'd be on the right track (offense is clearly better with Reynolds in RF with the theoretically available 1B) but would be picking the most washed 1B in the world who can't hit a fastball AND is a living Cubs legend.
I really really really don't like Ben Cherington but it's not really his fault if the Dodgers give Conforto 17 million dollars 1 year to go play for the clear best team in baseball lol.
Retire 39
Long time coming for Parker and Allen. Amazing players.
Can someone please get Tom Brady a glass of water
What do you think is more likely and which would you prefer?
Reynolds moves to RF, they sign one OF bat, and trade for a 1B (Diaz, Naylor, etc) or Reynolds moves to 1B and they're after multiple OF bats this offseason (Kepler, Grichuk etc)
Do you think they know yet which direction that's heading?
When construction began on Notre Dame in 1163, it's builders knew they would never live to see its full splendor. Ben Cherington is building a team for our children and our children's children. Just keep that in mind before complaining when they sign Joey Gallo.
If you spend more money than you ever have on your bullpen, and it sucks, the solution is not going to be spending even more money to bring back the same guys who didn't save you in the first place.
Getting confused vibes from the Green Giant Macy's parade float with a musical performance singing about Applebee's, whipped cream and Oreo milkshakes.
Surely, I'm not the only one who found that odd.
"Our team not his"
I've got some very bad news for you. You might want to be sitting down for this.
Glad to have John Baker out of that farm director role but I just don't quite understand why he isn't just fired? Ditto for Joe DelliCarri last year and that guy got promoted from director to VP despite amateur scouting being awful for years. Not sure it really means anything I just find it weird.
Personally, if my team's best player basically said 'we're not going to spend' I would not be rushing to get that quote on a graphic and paste it on all of my socials. Delete this man, what am I looking at.
