Hybrid female sterility due to cohesin protection errors in mouse oocytes Misregulation of chromosome cohesion during female meiosis serves as a reproductive isolating barrier in mice.

Another announcement! 📣 Our work on hybrid incompatibility in cohesin protection in 🐭oocytes is published!! Congrats Warif El Yakoubi and Eddie Pan!!🎉 We found hybrids with cohesion errors in two distinct genus.

A versatile cohesion manipulation system probes female reproductive age-related egg aneuploidy - Nature Aging To study pathways that lead to aneuploidy during aging, the authors provide a system that enables cohesion protein depletion in mouse oocytes, mimicking effects that occur during aging. They uncover a...

We built a targeted protein degradation–based system to mimic reproductive age-related aneuploidy in young eggs - revealing how chromosome errors associated with female infertility arise with age. 🧬✨

We built an experimental system for manipulation of oocyte chromosome cohesion using PROTACs, mimicking within 1.5 hrs chromosomal abnormalities that naturally arise over years to decades. BONUS: we visualized by live imaging chromosome arm-specific and centromeric retention of REC8 during anaphase!

Premature loss of chromosome cohesion proteins and untimely separation of chromosomes is thought to unde...

Some good news during these difficult times. Please check out our new preprint. We built a new tool to probe the origins of high oocyte aneuploidy rates at advanced female reproductive ages. This NIH funded work was led by a fantastic postdoc in the lab, Jiyeon Leem. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Sharing some oocyte spindle love-an image taken by PhD student Phia Maddocks. This beautiful work is supported by our NIH funding. Without this funding, we cannot understand the complexities of fertility genetics. With declining fertility rates, this work is essential to human health.
