Last month, Trump ordered soldiers to prepare to deploy in support of ICE’s murderous occupation of Minneapolis. We responded with new billboards outside Ft. Carson and Ft. Bragg telling troops where to turn for help if Trump orders them to break the law.
More members of Congress could stand to follow her lead, and should urgently adopt this agenda, including increasing the political pressure to end ICE and CBP’s deadly occupation of Minneapolis and other U.S. cities.
Rep. Omar is continually attacked for who she is, but also what she does. A leader on war powers fights, ending arms sales to human rights abusing govts, and repealing the Alien Enemies Act, she offers the antidote to authoritarianism — and challenges Trump at every turn.
We’re appalled by the attack on @ilhanmn.bsky.social and are relieved she’s safe. We condemn the inciting and disgusting statements from Trump and others that target her and the Somali-American community. Their rhetoric only exacerbates a climate of fear and deadly violence.
We don’t need arms races or strongman posturing.
We need real limits, real oversight, and fewer people with unchecked power over weapons that could end millions of lives.
And it’s not just nuclear weapons. It’s climate risk, biological threats, AI-fueled instability, and above all, leaders around the world choosing power grabs over keeping people alive.
The U.S. government is one of the drivers of the growing crisis, with Pentagon budgets ballooning, renewed arms racing, and Trump framing brinkmanship as “strength” instead of reducing risk.
