just woke up, what the hell is going on
no idea sadly
i know a guy who interviewed him at his house when he was still in quebec and he was barefoot the whole time
lindsay vonn shouldn't have been at the olympics tbh i hate when athletes risk severe injury aggravation. like tyler johnson with a broken hand or patrice bergeron with a punctured lung a while back. especially when it's their attempt at a comeback
i wanted a zojirushi but it was too expensive in canada during the pandemic so i got a tiger one at costco and i have no complaints tbh
health insurance sure is fun. due to partner's job stuff i was kicked off RAMQ last september but not informed of it until november. then in january they ask for their money back (no longer covered during that time). insurer then says, no, you weren't covered by us then. been on hold for an hour now

cat, upside down, on lap of sitting person, getting pet
kitty needs her snug time
yeah like at most i'm sympathetic to noise pollution and lost access to sunlight but those actually affect inside the house. tired of random people showing up at city hall whining about "never being consulted" on every new housing project, like it's their right to veto any people coming in the town
newsom is definitely preferable to trump/vance by a good margin but every time he opens his mouth it's to make that gap smaller and it would suck for the wider dem party to see the trend he represents and approve just because he looks like a movie president
letting transphobes in through made up "sports fairness" or "what about the children" panic and *is* how trans people get demonized, giving in to the framing that transitioning is dangerous or risky, that it should be state supervised, or that it spreads socially is how the path to UK labour starts
there are similarities but doing it for clout and social acceptance is very different than for money. it's not about deceiving to influence others behavior or take their money, it's about feeling accepted and cool
i get what you're saying but to clarify, there are hospital bills in Canada if you don't have public insurance (tourists, etc)
being white guys is the big thing but there's also the "i listened to this when i was a teenager and thought it was about my parents"
i dont like sports gambling but loto quebec gives free money sometimes so i take it when they do
not talking about "obvious" bets or odds btw its literally free money
so uh my understanding of US prices is flawed because 10$ a lb for chicken breast seems insane? like its 6$ CAD a lb here at cheap supermarkets, and i would expect it to be a bit cheaper in the US. for reference it regularly went for less than 4$ CAD before the pandemic
IMO the only things in diet that need to be promoted is fiber and vegetables particularly leafy greens, but otherwise as long as you're not in pain or in nutrient deficiency from eating too much or too little, there's no secret superfood or diet that will make you live to 150 or get a bigger dick
in retrospect it's weird that wellness woo-woo bullshit was ever left-coded. was it because of its proximity to conservation-type environmentalism? general anti big Ag/big pharma sentiment? still, it preys on fear & ignorance while appealing to the past. aesthetic was left/lib but base was far right
am i insane or did krispy kreme shrink their donuts but not the boxes? seems like you could fit 4-5 more in there sometimes
In a weird place re: AI, I don't think copyright law is an unalloyed Good Thing so LLM usage of copyrighted works is not a big deal to me. And the environmental concerns are important but not intrinsic to the tech. So what's left to explain the ick factor that makes me refuse to use claude?
i think the full chatbot style interface and bot-summoning in social media will become more expensive the more the models get resource intensive, but things like recommendation algorithms will use them, vast swaths of technical docs will be written by them, recognition software will use them too
like "america did bad things" is a wholly seperate idea to "america is the biggest cultural exporter of the last 150 years"
even the most pessimistic view of america should acknowledge that the state department wouldn't spend so much if propaganda didn't work

genAI isn't just that, and some companies are more serious than others, but there's clearly a lot of money in that. half of the ads i see are for some AI service that specifically advertises having no limits and being sexually explicit. i report them when i see them but i know it's a lost battlle
seems not great that the big market technological innovations are all massively tied to criminal activity or rewarding antisocial behavior. nfts were for endless nickel-and-diming of everything. crypto is mainly for trading illicit goods or with sanctioned entities. genAI is making lots of csam
he's making a dreamworks face
in response to the murder of a protestor by a federal agent
what an unbelievably smug asshole
sadly the provincial government (both current and prospective) hates montreal and everything good about it
Please let Stancil back into the Signal chats so he can spend his time annoying ICE and not posting.
i have seen inside my neighbors condos much more than i ever wanted to this week because 3rd floor laundry drain broke and water fell into my bathroom, and no one else was gonna make holes in the drywall and set up fans to dry out the mess
