It’s always frightening when the Florida escapes containment. Glad no one was hurt.

leaders like trump are why sun tzu had to write a bunch of advice like "don't write your enemy a letter detailing what tactics you really don't want them to do"

This must be one of the reasons republicans want mass deportations. They absolutely love driving the deficit up.

It bothers me a lot that democrats are afraid of doing real criminal legal system reform because of the Willie Horton problem, while Trump gets absolutely zero political blowback for pardoning the J6ers, many of whom have gone on to commit serious crimes including child sexual abuse and DV. WTF.

We are calling on ICE to immediately release journalist Estefany Rodriguez, who has covered immigration, including ICE actions, for the Spanish-language news site Nashville Noticias.

Insurrectionist Brunch: Trumpists plotted to deploy military on U.S. soil Before the 2024 election, a cadre of MAGA loyalists met over brunch to plot ways for Trump to use the military domestically.

This is just astonishingly great reporting.

All of the crises the White House has claimed over the last 14 months were planned in advance. All of them.

And however much contempt you have for media outlets who reverently relayed Trump's claim to have no relation to Project 2025, it isn't enough.

Meta’s New Smart Glasses Sounded Cool at First. But I Was Unimpressed. Meta’s latest smart glasses have a built-in screen and camera. But they can’t replace your smartphone.

Do you ever feel like you don’t spend enough time looking at a digital screen? Do you think there’s actually too much trust in our society? If you answered yes to either question, I have the perfect technology for you. www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/r...

This is to say: if you're an attorney who's hesitated to take on habeas cases because you think you lack the knowledge, or you're worried about whether you'll really help, I PROMISE you can make a difference. I'm just a dipshit with a 7-year-old laptop and a bad attitude. If I can do it, so can you.

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

AI cameras are everywhere β€” and people are paying the price for their mistakes Flock Safety's license plate readers are used by police in thousands of communities. When the cameras make mistakes, the consequences can be severe.

β€œIn a dozen instances, misreads by Flock's automated license plate readers, or a lack of verification by officers, resulted in people who hadn't committed crimes being stopped at gunpoint, sent to jail, or mauled by a police dog, among other outcomes.”

At ~$1 billion/day, the US has spent as much on the war in Iran in ten days as the entire FY25 budget for the National Science Foundation ($10 billion).

Trump's FY26 budget request for the agency declined to $3.9 billion, due to a "realignment of resources in a constrained fiscal environment."

no doubt. i'm just saying i don't like it when democrats talk about cutting taxes instead of taxing everyone fairly and providing adequate services.

Like sure I guess it's marginally useful for a poor person to get a tax credit of $500 per year. But that tax credit will not fundamentally change anything about that person's or their family's life. You know what would? Fully funded healthcare, education, rapid transit, public housing...GOVERNMENT!

09.03.2026 17:41 πŸ‘ 11 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I got into it about tax credits with an elected official here in MA yesterday. He was saying the tax cuts MA passed for the rich were accompanied by tax credits for working class and poor people. But the whole point of taxes and gov spending is that together we can fund things one person can't buy.

Iran faces what is widely considered the strongest military in the world, alongside Israel’s technologically advanced forces; France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have indicated that they may join the campaign, too. But small, agile forces can still inflict harm, particularly in battles that they consider existential. Tehran’s strikes are already draining Washington’s supply of air-defense interceptors. On Monday, the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, lamented that, in a month, Iran can produce more than a hundred ballistic missiles and field thousands of drones; in the same time, the U.S. can deliver only six or seven interceptor units.
