EU environment ministers are meeting in Brussels to get on the same page ahead of the COP30 climate summit in Belem, Brazil.
They've long missed a deadline to submit the EU's pledge ahead of that meeting and are holding crash talks to try to sort it out.
🟢🇪🇺 The implementation of the intermediate EU climate targets will be reassessed every two years.
Meaning the 2040 target of 90% might be watered down in the future, and "could include an adjustment".... "corresponding to and within the limits of potential shortfalls".
👀📄 I've seen a copy of the Danish Presidency’s proposal for compromises to the EU Commission's climate proposal, to be discussed at Tuesday's EU 🇪🇺 ENVI council.

The UK joins Canada and Australia in officially recognising a Palestinian State.
