I think it's maybe both true that Ellison is engaged in a classic "overpay for a movie studio because it would be fun to own a movie studio" and also that the consolidation of more and more media in the hands of regime-aligned billionaires is disturbing.

Fault Lines: Inside the Housing Crisis [Trailer] YouTube video by Portal A

A couple weeks ago, I saw Fault Lines, a powerful new doc on the housing crisis. It’s a reminder that while the causes may seem complex, the solution is clear: we need to build more housingβ€”and remove the barriers that stand in the way. Everyone should check it out!

β€”Eliminate protection of poor, minority communities
β€”No longer consider costs to society from wildfires, droughts, storms that might be made worse by pollution
β€”Erase authority to regulate greenhouse gases

I attended a crisis communications training yesterday. One of the speakers left me with a nugget that has been playing in my head since I heard it, and seems particularly important to the moment we're in:

To change the narrative, you have to narrate the change.

It feels like too many people/orgs are paralyzed by fear and not willing to push back. A commitment to racial equity is ok.

Only one in five people view DEIA as a negative. Are we really just taking it on the chin that it's ok for millions of dollars in federal grants and contracts to be cancelled because they reference racial equity or something similar?
