This canβt be true, or I would have died years agoβ¦

This isnβt a comment on this specific case, but Mark Kerrβs wider comments are right, arenβt they? Itβs difficult territory, but, among many issues, if care staff become too reluctant to intervene physically, the likelihood is an increase in use of the police.
I donβt doubt there is pain, but I think if someone has a genuine experience of inexplicable or unnecessary child removal, they are likely to want to focus on explaining those circumstances, rather than tell shoppers gangs of SWs are roaming the streets snatching children.
Just in Kingston (London, not Jamaica) and there is a small group of protesters with placards explaining that social workers take children for profit! The man on the mic says SWs are βopportunists and roam in groups, so keep your kids closeβ! π
Thatβs so gross!

Dez, this is all over the place - no meal where ketchup or baked beans are legitimate ingredients should also include salad! Personally I think all ingredients should be contained within a sandwich, nothing on the sideβ¦

Tartare sauce or tomato ketchup in a fish finger sandwich?
Nor have I, but if youβre going to watch one, Iβd recommend it.

Bitterly disappointing to see this soft-touch approach to ending profiteering in care system.
Asking providers to 'voluntarily limit' profits (when cost of a child in care can exceed Β£1m p/a) assumes a level of trust never earned.
Tougher measures are needed now; gentle negotiations wonβt work.
Yeah, the notion that the large PE backed firms will some how see the light is laughable.
Iβm afraid I am pessimistic about the likelihood of the Governmentβs proposed childrenβs social care reforms having a meaningful impact.
Iβm interested to know if the reduction of children in care was achieved primarily through fewer children coming into care, or through successful reunifications?
You must have increased the support budgets prior to reducing the budget for children in care. Unless you deprived children in care? Initially there has to be an overall increase in spending, otherwise what you are suggesting is mathematically impossible.
Itβs not possible to just move money from paying for children in care to early help, both should be funded appropriately. In time, if early intervention and, imv, universal services are funded properly, there should be savings from reduced numbers in care.
There is no point in asking private equity backed firms to reduce profits voluntarily, they will rinse as much as they can from the system while they can.
