These are the first in vivo findings showing ACC metabolic dysfunction in pwMS. This could inform therapeutic intervention aimed at regulating energy metabolism and ultimately, alleviating MS fatigue.
Any feedback welcomed!

We are also the first to demonstrate that state perceived fatigue develops at a faster rate in pwMS during exercise compared to controls. This will be explored in depth in another paper coming very soon!

We found 2 metabolic differences in the anterior cingulate cortex (the brain's interoception hub):
1. Elevated Lactate (rest/post-ex) in pwMS.
2. Impaired Creatine Response post-fatiguing exercise vs. controls.
Both pointing to mitochondrial dysfunction in the ACC.

My first paper from my PhD is out on preprint, looking at multiple sclerosis related fatigue ๐ด๐ง ๐ช
We used pre/post-exercise MR Spectroscopy to identify dysfunction in energy metabolism in a brain region linked to fatigue perception in pwMS.

Thrilled to share Iโve passed my #PhD viva with no corrections!! Huge thanks to my examiners Paul Shodbolt & Guillaume Millet for an engaging discussion, and to my supervisors Jeanne Dekerle, Mara Cercignani & James Stone for their incredible support. What a day ๐
