Just saw the news on Bluesky that Michel Aglietta has died. Very sad. As controversial as the regulation school was in political economy circles, it is one of the most important theories of the transition in the 1970s and helped keep Marxist economic and social theory alive:

Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the global trade regime are chaotic and uncoordinated.
As economist Ha-Joon Chang tells Jacobin, Trump has failed to see that the cause of the US’s relative decline is its own domestic capitalist class.

From the archives: how much was history of economics still taught in US economics graduate programs in 1989.
Are your students more creative and reflexive now that close to 0% of them are offered a class in history of economics?

An excellent short summary of how we got here.
Neoliberal globalisation hollowed out the economic base of the western working class while liberal politicians supressed reformist left-wing voices who tried to limit the damage, leaving a vacuum of resentment and suffering for the far right to fill.
