You ever write something and there are so many parts you hope people engage with that you can't figure out which ones to quote?
I'll do a wee thread on the 3rd, and final, essay from my Red Scares series

Ahhh thatβs right, you were the culprit!! Happy to chat with your students if they have any questions!
I recently had a lovely time talking to @llassabe.bsky.social and the American Campus Podcast about Catholicism, radical traditionalists, and Triumph magazine. Listen here: americancampuspodcast.buzzsprout.com/2396665/epis...
Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate. In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate. A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership. "Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

Presenting Spotify's star, absurdly highly paid podcaster, Joe Rogan.
The millions they pay him would, in a just world, be paid instead to the musicians whose work Spotify makes a fortune off, NOT to promote Nazi-style demonization of minorities.
Your Spotify subscription supports fascism.
Maybe doing some outreach to foreign press would be a good thing for the new communications guy to do π€·π»ββοΈ

"In a rapidly evolving situation, the best way to assess the specific challenges+ leverage that workers have is to go out to our departments or labs to figure out who is currently working, what their jobs are, obstacles they might face, and what next steps workers could collectively build towards."

In retrospect, it was probably futile, but I do at least hope some people who have clicked βhistoryβ as one of their likes on Facebook got a thrill by being confronted with an article about a medieval depiction of trans Jesus.
In her review of Piketty, McCloskey points out that the Latin root of data is "things given," but that the documentation Piketty is working with, primarily tax records, is more accurately a reflection of "things seized." That is, not data, but capta. I want to dΓ©tournΓ© McCloskey's point to argue that capta is the appropriate title for the currencies of technofeudalism.? It is an economy which is growing increasingly inefficient, coercive, and authoritarian because the economic process it glorifies is not one of mutual consent to market exchange, but of non-consensual seizure of attention, identity, and future potential.
Iβve been trying to use capta consistently, where appropriate, and have been pleased to find, for many, no explanation is needed. It is very intuitive, as disciplinary jargon should be.
Crafting a version of reality in which right-wing college students are being persecuted for their strongly held beliefs not only legitimizes the firing of so-called liberal professors, but makes these actions necessary to save students from systemic harassment at the hands of a powerful institution.
ASTRONAUT 1: Wait, is βthe campus leftβ just a fantasy object the center right can displace their cognitive dissonance on?
ASTRONAUT 2 [cocks his gun]: Always has been.
Iβm still not done thinking about Chomsky and Epstein. Dibs on his obituary.
I promise to stop reposting SUNY P soon but a) Iβm obsessed with this cover art, b) itβs about representing the (ahem) lumpenproletariat, and c) itβs available open access thanks to funding from Emory U, the authorβs uni. Heavy on the Greimas and Jameson (complimentary).
[1] When bio-ethics are taught in Univ, the use of a womanβs cancer cells, in 1951 without agreement, is a significant example of unethical behaviour. Henrietta Lackβs cell line has been used for decades. A little justice is served & itβs something I worried about for years. We doβ¦

If you give Einstein your credentials to log in, then it can access ALL of your campus portals: your financial accounts, transcripts, email, health records, &c. because all of that is under one umbrella. Literally the only way to your LLM is through your campus login. The security risk is massive.
