Using exclusive swine trade data, Gavrila found the most likely place a disease like ASF would enter the country and simulated how it would spread to other regions. Rare long-range pig movements turn out to be highly significant - useful insights if you’re trying to contain the disease

The other aspect of this story is, academics and NHS staff could and would have done this better and essentially for free if they were given the same data access as Faculty, but they are not allowed it. Government policy is deliberately to frustrate pro bono / non-profit health data research.

Cabo Verde, Mauritius and Seychelles eliminateΒ measles and rubella In a significant public health achievement, Cabo Verde, Mauritius and Seychelles have eliminated measles and rubella, becoming the first sub-Saharan countries to attain this milestone.

Excellent to see success and leadership in the AFRO region. For too long the refrain has been for AFRO to recapitulate the "PAHO Strategy" for elimination. PAHO's success was tremendous, but is now decades old and the world and tactics have changed. These counties can lead the charge for AFRO.

A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads:
Using Generative AI?
You’re prompting with Hitler!
GenAI is a Fascist Project!
Try using your brain instead
