And by that I don't mean "we should make a rule" I mean that straightforward application of the existing rules would tell you that it is a war crime.
Yeah I think this whole thread nails it. History tries to warn this admin & any media playing along with them that this isn’t a bad approach only because it’s wrong, but it’s bad because it’s stupid. Again, history or any good mafia movie presents the obvious lesson with these tactics.
I suspect there are Americans in power for whom making the world less safe for Americans synergizes nicely with claims that the US - authoritarian and unsafe - is the only place for Americans to be safe, the only thing providing ANY safety for Americans anywhere, etc.
