Attended the final Simon’s Rock Reunion at the Great Barrington campus. It was a lovely, bittersweet event and I am grateful for the opportunity to share this special weekend with some special people—y’all know who you are.

No shade on the designer nor the image—it’s obviously gorgeous—just curious if there might have been a slight reality tweak involved. I didn’t think you had designed it but thought you might know the story. Thanks for the reply and for all the amazing music!

Cover art for “The Sunset Tree” album released by The Mountain Goats in 2005. Depicts a large tree with most of the branches growing off to the right, suggesting that it’s the south side. The sun is on the horizon near the base of the trunk, which should be the west it’s truly a sunset, but that doesn’t gibe with the phototropism. Mystery afoot!

Phototropism would suggest that cover art for “The Sunset Tree” is either a sunrise tree or the photo has been flipped.
