This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t
@lisamaesie
I’m semi-active here and on Mastodon, but I read here all the time. I just want to follow artists and authors I like and keep up to date with their latest. If you follow me out of nowhere I will assume you’re a bot or a scammer and I will block you!
This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t
Georgia was skating to MORTAL KOMBAT at the Olympics exhibition gala
A black cat sits on a half wall next to some stairs going down. He is posed awkwardly, pawing at his own tail playfully.
Only I could be lucky enough to adopt the sort of cat who sits above an eight foot drop and proceeds to chase his own tail.
Aah Murderbot is my favorite. There’s a new book coming out in May too : D There was a Humble Bundle with all the existing books a while ago and I jumped on that one!
Two black cats eat wet food out of dishes. One cat is eating on a rubber pet food mat; the other’s dish has been moved away to the nearby bathroom doorway. His whole body is in the bathroom so he can keep an eye on the first cat, and he is hard to see in the dark bathroom. Nearby are a pet fountain and a plastic box with a treat dispenser inside.
Last night the boys were getting along so I fed them together. Ouzo needed his food moved about three feet away. Ouzo doesn’t eat all his food in one go; he saves some for later. Raki finished his and went to check out Ouzo’s leftovers. Ouzo started loudly yowling. “MOOOM HE IS TOUCHING MY STUFF”
Two black cats sit loafed facing each other, perhaps ten feet apart. The larger, fluffier cat sits guarding the door to the stairs, while the skinnier one sits close to the photographer. Various cat toys and a yoga mat litter the floor, and a baby gate and a tension bar lean up against a nearby bookcase.
Cat update! The cats are… well, not getting along, but they are on the path to integration. Ouzo hisses if they get too close (including it Ouzo is the one that got too close). We went all evening with no chasing, although I did intervene whenever Ouzo started hissing.
My maternal grandmother is supposed to have been 1/4 native (and she looked it). This explains why my cousin came back 100% European though when he did his DNA! (Also his maternal grandmother so no question about relevant parentage!)
A black cat sulks inside a blue e-collar cone.
Raki has been surgically altered into a lamp.
I’m so used to hearing cars and trains (I live on a main road, I live within loud-vehicle-earshot of the highway, I can hear the branch line from my house) that it’s noticeable that all I can hear is the snowplow going by once an hour or so. So weird!
I have to run errands today! My dad wants me to stop by his house before the snow! Gross!
I bought him a coat! Then I bought him a windbreaker because he never wore the coat! (He does wear long pants now. It’s 8 degrees outside today.)
Dr Kareem Carr man: i wish to publish @kareem_carr Jan 21 reviewer 2: your paper is no good man: i'll do anything to improve reviewer 2: it's simple. you must read the work of the great scientist Pagliarini man: *bursts into tears* but i am Pagliarini Andre Pagliarini @apagliar Jan 21 a first: in rejecting an article I submitted to a journal, reviewer 2 noted I failed to engage the work of one Andre Pagliarini Jan 21, 2026 • 3:47 PM UTC
I just thought everyone should see this
Having two black cats sequestered in separate parts of the house messes with my head a bit. Like, I’ll hang out with Raki a while and then come downstairs, and there’s Raki?? No wait that’s Ouzo! So confusing.
That’s not working for me, I get a preview of the next page.
A screenshot of DoA on the phone. The image is pulled over to the right to show that even pulled over as far as possible, the first few letters of the dialog are cut off.
On my iphone the comic is getting cut off on both sides.
Also is there a way to see the mouse over text on phone on this version?
Well no. Technically 11 is a 1000% increase. But regardless, when you start out next to zero, it doesn’t take much for the increase to seem really high.
Going from 1 to 10 is a 1000% increase!
It’s a slow steady snowfall today and my stepbrother has not cancelled his one year old’s birthday party, so I’m preparing as if to go but also thinking I won’t actually go (it’s a 20 minute drive in good weather and I can’t imagine the roads are in great shape right now). Bleh.
A skinny black cat lies curled up on the lap of someone wearing a plaid shirt. One hand curls around his backside.
Raki has decided he can only be on my lap. One hand is keeping him from falling off. Whenever I move slightly, he looks up at me in exasperation, demands some pets, then lays his head back down.
A skinny black cat stares wide-eyed from inside a blue and gray plastic carrier that looks way too big for him.
This dude got a rabies shot and a once over today (looking good! Face is much better!)
I got advice on how to train him to not nurse on me and an appointment and quote for getting him fixed. Ouch. Time to dig out the CareCredit card from back in Katie’s day.
(I can afford it. It’s still an ouch.)
Raki is feeling better and has energy again, but is super confused about what to do with energy. I have introduced him to a few different toys and the ???? that pops up over his head is just so obvious.
A fluffy black cat, lying on a white couch, grooms his front legs while ignoring the fact that the photographer has gripped his back paw. He has a notably thick tail.
A black cat sits on the lap of a person in plaid pajamas, staring directly at the camera. He has a bald spot above his right eye with a scab in the middle of it, looking like it’s healing well. He has one ear slightly cocked back, having heard a siren go by.
#caturday today, my pair of voids: Ouzo, the tolerant buddy who now looks like a relative chonker to my eye (only half of that is his fluffy fur); Raki, whose scab looks better every day and will barely let me take his picture because he’s so busy headbutting the phone.
ER waiting room for rabies vaccine round 3. Then medical office waiting room for fasting blood work. So I’m hungry, grumpy, surrounded by sick people, and being stabbed with needles this morning. (Very much masking yes, I do not need this flu going around)
A skinny black cat sits on the back of a woman who is leaning over. He looks proudly over his domain.
Me: Let me just sweep up this litter you’ve kicked everywhere and put down the new litter mat.
Raki: I AM KING OF THE MOUNTAIN
Rabies booster this morning. Only one needle today! Big improvement. Yay.
Raki’s vet visit turned up fleas, ear mites, and a fever. His wound was cared for, he got antibiotics, and because he bit me he can’t be vaccinated until the 12th. He’s isolating at home with us but it’s hard not to give him some lap time when he loves it so much.
A scrawny black cat lies curled up on a lap with plaid pajamas. A trash bag is visible by the door in the background.
All this baby wants is lap time. I’m not allowed to tidy up, it’s just lap time all the time. He headbutted me every time I walked past the chair to remind me about lap time.
Tomorrow I have to go to work, buddy! Hopefully hubs will spend some time with you!
He won’t let me do much for the wound on his face (there might be one on his leg too, I think) but he’ll see the vet on Monday. Fastest I could get him in.
A black cat with a wound over one eye sniffles happily on the lap of a human wearing plaid pajamas.
Socializing new rescue Raki and teaching him slowly not to bite (as we do not know his vaccination status I spent six hours between urgent care and ER today to get the first four of a series of rabies shots, plus tetanus, antibiotics, and flushing my bite wound).
I was four when this happened. My brother and I each got one. I remember hearing when I was older that my childless aunt had braved the crowds and chaos to secure one for each of her nieces and nephews. I was the oldest, none of us would’ve cared if we’d missed out, but she did it anyway.
