Argh, learning about the love2shop vouchers is on my to-do list for my current project (different uni, different processes) - not great if they're overwhelming! I wonder if there's anything that researchers/those administering the account can do to make it easier for recipients to use them

"spilled onto the world"? Better: spread, systematically by capitalists who deploy all those emotions to divide & control those who might otherwise unite against them, refusing to be exploited & live in continuing states of alienation from each other & the Earth.

Three days ago, Israel ordered the south evacuated. Two days ago, they did the same to the southern suburbs. That’s more than one million people. Some, the most vulnerable, are sleeping rough by the sea or on sidewalks. Today, it is raining. War harms the poor the most.

Tom Belger column: β€˜Why is Labour making migrant exploitation easier?’ - LabourList Anyone talking about immigration should admit and debate the trade-offs between prices and immigrant and other workers' rights.

"Britain already has fewer inspectors than most similar countries. Last year the current Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority was actually cutting spending, reducing legal, interpreter & other services to curb a budget deficit."

Westminster Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again. Statement: β€œFor Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.

Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.

That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.” – Oliver Robertson, Head of Witness and Worship

β€˜They went for wealth, not health. They chose to tolerate inequality. They opted for more of the same as we’ve had since 2010. That choice says much about Westminster’s priorities. People in power don’t look at life expectancy because [...] we’ve all got used to expecting less from our livesβ€™πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

This appalling fat cat wants to shut the door on all my mature students, many of whom left school after GCSE and give up a lot to go to university. I can tell him that they’re the hungriest for education and far from being unable to graduate, they regularly get the highest grades. Hateful man.

After an investigation following Friedmann's initial arrest, Hall said: "It was discovered that Mr. Friedmann over many months had developed and implemented an extremely deliberate and, in my opinion, evil plan. Understand, this plan went far beyond vandalism. Ultimately, it included planting various tools, weapons and security equipment throughout this facility β€” all designed to assist in a massive
escape plan." Hall went on to say that Friedmann had "planted loaded guns with additional ammunition" inside the detention center. Police say they are trying to identify three
men who can be seen interacting with Friedmann on surveillance video. "The unprecedented nature of these crimes has created the need to delay the opening of this building even further," Hall said, going on to explain that the
detention center would not open until his office was confident that it was safe and
secure. Asked whether it was possible that part or all of the detention center might need to
be torn down to ensure that safety, DCSO spokesperson Karla West tells the Scene,
"That is not something we anticipate at this time."

Somehow I missed the story about the anti-prison activist who just got arrested for planting LOADED GUNS (and other equipment) throughout Nashville's new jail while it was under construction.

Red Lines: Is Starmer's Labour far right? (Aurelien Mondon) - Reactionary Politics Research Network This article by Aurelien Mondon explores whether the Labour government under Starmer can be considered far right

Recent events, between Mahmood's appalling asylum seeker policy and Starmer's own appalling comments against Mothin Ali make it sound ever less provocative...
