That's such horrendous UX, I'm kind of impressed. Like, a lot of engineering work had to go into building this bizarre and panic-inducing functionality! There's a devilish beauty to it :)
Turns out, my reply had gone through fine -- it's just that the search function in the Outlook app appears to choose a maximum on one email from within any given email chain, and completely obscures the existence of all of the other emails in the chain, with no ability to find them.
The relevant email thread came up, but when I tapped on it, there was only their original email -- my reply wasn't there! Big problem, because the matter in question needs action ASAP!
Our City Council email uses Microsoft Outlook, and I can't believe how much worse than Gmail it is.
