I think it helps that I've been getting normal sleep and not walking 8 miles each day.

Thankfully, the post-AWP cold isn't too bad this year.

Up to teach at 8:30 is a heck of a way to reenter life after 4 days of AWP. (Living the [very, very tired] dream.)

The stairwells (which I had to take later because the same elevator wouldn't open on my floor when I wanted to head out) was something out of a horror film, full of lights that only clicked on if you got close enough to the bottom of each landing.

Survived AWP. Only got stuck in one elevator.

Last night's @stanchion.bsky.social reading was so fun. Now it's time to actually start this AWP. If you see my awkward self, say hi!

Other than that, you can find me if you look for the awkward guy avoiding eye contact!

Donate to We Lost Everything to a Fire. Help My Family Rebuild., organized by Chloe Clark On January 24th, our childhood home burned down. Our parents lost 50… Chloe Clark needs your support for We Lost Everything to a Fire. Help My Family Rebuild.

I'm still doing a GoFundMe to help my parents rebuild after a devastating house fire. The costs of doing so, with an uninsured house, are extremely high. My parents are elderly and low-income and my disabled brother lives with them. I deeply appreciate shares of this link!

Got up early, showered, dressed and headed to campus with lots of extra time because of the falling snow. Forgot to bring a change of shoes. Been wearing snow boots for about 8 hours. My feet are so warm.

I feel like this is also an example of how box office results make no difference in a movie's legacy. This movie made over $350 million worldwide, and yet is completely forgotten.

This morning, I thought to myself, "You know, I'm pretty good at running in icy conditions," only to then trip on the sidewalk seam (no ice at all!) and spill across someone's driveway.

Super Bowl
BY MARY RUEFLE

Who won? I said.
The game's tomorrow, he said.
And I became the snail I always was, crossing the field in my helmet.
But I'd given it my all,
while the plane arced on its way
to a landing, when I overheard
the woman behind us say
I was gathering wildflowers to make a wreath
to lay on my mother's grave when my son fell off a mountain in Italy
and I felt such joy over the unknown outcome of her words
I was not ashamed,
for I can feign interest
in the world, just as she
in that great green meadow
must have.

Abandoning reporters while they're in war zones. Cutting book criticism. Losing sports. Firing the reporter tasked with covering Amazon. The list goes on and on.

We've hit the first goal milestone and I just want to deeply thank everyone who has donated or shared! I am hoping to keep this going to truly help my parents rebuild, but this is so incredibly kind!
