@arseblog.com If spurs manage to stay up, do you think they’ll release a dvd celebrating their season?
Have you noticed how Trossard will start celebrating a goal from a team mate before the goal has actually been scored? #arsecastextra
We don’t deserve to win the league. A callow performance. Player and manager have stage fright.
Here is the project I've poured my entire soul into for the last six weeks. If you like my football writing and find yourself thinking 'wow, I wish I could read 23,000 words of this,' you might enjoy Volume I.
I'm very, very proud of this:
I’m not sure anyone can effectively play the no 10 role in this set up with the demands placed on the position. Ødegaard drops too deep, Eze doesn’t do enough. Can’t win.
Phil, does the attack suffer because it is not seen as a unit? I feel selections are made with little thought of which players complement each other. It always felt Eze was going to start. For me, he’s looked much better with Jesus or Merino. Not an excuse but it feels a lack of attentiveness.
Arsenal need to select the attack as a unit. Too often it feels that we get this right for the defence but the attack is neglected. The selection is based on individuals rather than combinations. Eze is maligned but he is clearly better with Jesus or Havertz or even Merino up front.
It feels as if our ability to work the overloads has dissipated.
Declan was immense again. But he should have taken the shot on instead of trying to set up Gyokeres in the second half. 2-0 at that point, I would have backed us to hold on.
I’ve wondered why can’t we produce that fluent attacking football from two seasons ago? What’s happened? Kai’s absence is a factor. Has the style of play in the league changed? Is fatigue catching up with the players?
A weird consolation…but we still have a third of the season to go. We have a small buffer to get things right. The difficulty depends on how systemic the problems are.
Yeah, I found that a bit annoying. Leo went nowhere with it and turned it over.
Do you mean Merino at forward and Eze behind him or both in midfield?
I know the dates. The point is that the 1997/98 team included players that had won titles previously, ie before that season. This experience must have helped and obviously been gained before 1997. The current team lacks players with similar experience.
Hope so, but that Arsenal team had a stronger winning culture through the likes of Adams, Dixon and co. Do we lack an experienced head that has been part of a successful title challenge?
How can we find that form from two seasons ago when we consistently beat teams 4-0, 5-0 on that run toward the end of the season? The attack had purpose and real threat.
@gunnerblog.bsky.social made an excellent point recently that not enough thought is given to combinations when selecting attackers. Combinations between attackers and other players. While the attack continues to be dysfunctional, it will place tremendous pressure on the defence.
Are we asking too much of our defensive unit? For years they have carried us whilst the attack has often malfunctioned. Now Arteta seems to be telling Saliba to carry the ball further forward even making runs into the opposition box. Consequently the defensive unit looks mentally shattered.
It feels like it’s slipping away. It’s not just about this defeat, we look bereft of conviction and confidence in a game plan in the league. Can anyone explain why the team performed so differently in the Inter match compared to this one? Less risk averse?
The world should not come here. There should not be a World Cup here.
I spoke out against the last World Cup because of concerns I had about human rights violations and it’s only right that I express the same concerns and condemnations now.
There are murder-squads executing people on the streets of America right now with the full support of the federal government.
How do we make it stop?
People are protesting in huge numbers and it’s not making an impact. I despair at what comes next when people finally reach a breaking point.
True, though it might affirm their choice of manager which could be hugely important for next season.
No, all of those excuses (with perhaps exception of the first one) are poor.
Re-sign Olivier Giroud.
Congrats Tim!
Nice shout out for Colin! The brewery that used for filming is in my neighborhood. And planes do fly over as frequently as represented in the show…
Dumb.
It was critical in winning the champions league final too.
St Patrick's Day in Dublin 2025: People from all over the world in town having fun, we drank some American beer, ate Korean food, got a lovely Iranian taxi driver home.
Fuck this dickhead.
