Thanks Janet. I knew this was going but hadn't seen the result. Looks like it was tossed on the basis of no jurisdiction - not on the merits - but I can't find the actual letter on the commissioner's website.

A whole mess of Order in Council appointments here but the one that really stands out for me is the reappointment of David Yager as a member of the board of directors of the Alberta Energy Regulator for a term to expire on April 25, 2031.

Note (HT @gkfellows.bsky.social) that AB's share caps out at 40% once WTI reaches $120 Cdn. We are already well beyond that. Time for a debate as to whether AB shd amend the Oil Sands Royalty regs to take a larger share as WTI rises above $120 Cdn?

Who should benefit from the oil price increases caused by the US/Israel war on Iran? Royalty rates are generally price/profit sensitive. This is especially true for AB oil sands. After a project achieves “payout” AB’s royalty increases with price as depicted here: 1/ #abpoli #cdnpoli

One of the other features of the application was apparently 600 units of backup diesel generators, each rated at
2.6 MW = 1560! Can you imagine the resulting noise & air pollution if that lot started up!
