I deeply agree that I want more people from the RPG world working with mainstream publishers.

I don't want to frame it as something people can just decide to to.

Working with a large corporation is always a situation where the artist has very little control over what happens.

Noting for clarity that a lot of people working in software, including software engineers and designers, have a bad understanding of the software design process.

Kate speaking in front of a mural 'Scotland Stands With The People Of Iran'

On Sunday I helped unveil an inspiring Women Life Freedom mural in Edinburgh, honouring the courage of the Iranian people who have stood up against decades of mass arrests, killings, censorship and repression by a brutal regime.

Newcastle pubs ban AI art from breweries to protect local creatives As two pubs in Newcastle ban AI art, artists discuss the impact it can have on creatives.

"If I was to use ChatGPT for my designs rather than our designer Sean, that's taking money out of the local area into the hands of a multibillionaire ... removing value from the local community and local artists [and] into the hands of some of the richest people in the world."

I'm 38, I grew up with a Labour party that abolished section 28 when I was at school, introduced the minimum wage so I could get paid properly when I went to work and set up Sure Start that helped my younger siblings.

Now look at them. That's the betrayal.

something abled people don't get is you can have just one day a week where you are too sick to work, and that's enough to disqualify you from nearly all full-time jobs. it doesn't take a lot

Email Ofcom: Save STV North Send an email in seconds to Ofcom as part of the STV North consultation, explaining why the programme should not be centralised and why strong local news matters across the North and North-East.

πŸ“Ί The STV News at Six North programme is currently broadcast from Aberdeen but Ofcom has said it is minded to allow STV to move presentation from Aberdeen to Glasgow.

πŸ—“οΈ The consultation closes on 9th February 2026. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Nature loss is a national security risk, intelligence groups warn The degradation of ecosystems around the world threatens UK food security, a long-awaited report says.

The government's Joint Intelligence Committee identified 6 ecosystems critical to our national security. All 6 face collapse, starting as early as 2030.

Every time we roll back environmental protections or delay action, the future costs get higher and the damage more severe.

The amount of big name software that would benefit from being in "maintenance mode" only - allowing users to perfect their workflows and software knowledge.

But this would require big tech to admit to their product's economical maturity, which I understand they don't want for some reason?

every time adobe does stupid bullshit people come out in droves to post a list of software alternatives that only maybe have 1 or 2 basic functions in common, and it always reminds me of a kid's cookbook i had that said "why toast marshmallows over a campfire when you can dip cupcakes in sprinkles?"

That show is such a classic. Angela Lansbury is clearly having the time of her life as Jessica Fletcher which makes her such an icon.

Excerpt from Wikipedia reads: "Fight against merchandising his characters
For years, Watterson battled against pressure from publishers to merchandise his work, something that he felt would cheapen his comic through compromising the act of creation or reading.[21][22]

He refused to merchandise his creations on the grounds that displaying Calvin and Hobbes images on commercially sold mugs, stickers, and T-shirts would devalue the characters and their personalities. Watterson said that Universal kept putting pressure on him and that he had signed his contract without fully perusing it because, as a new artist, he was happy just to find a syndicate willing to give him a chance (two other syndicates had previously turned him down). He added that the contract was so one-sided that, if Universal really wanted to, they could license his characters against his will, and could even fire him and continue Calvin and Hobbes with a new artist. Watterson's position eventually won out, and he was able to renegotiate his contract so that he would receive all rights to his work. Later he said that the licensing fight exhausted him and contributed to the need for a nine-month sabbatical in 1991.[23]"

Bill Watterson is my favorite cartoonist. I adored the relationship btw Calvin and Hobbes as a child. But as I've gotten older, these strips feel even more tender and insightful. My respect for him grew when I learned of his stance against merchandising. Such principles are almost unheard of today.
