Also bad laws that do get passed can be made a lot less worse with enough opposition, it appened here in the EU with chat control: it's thanks to activism why encryption is not gonna be broken in your country
News online makes it look like people all want these kind of laws to get passed, when in reality they're very unpopular and votes are very neck and neck and a few candidates can make a difference
If you are afraid thse kind of laws would pass there's something extra you could do: many who voted for these laws to get passed are soon gonna re-elected unless you vote for another canditate so you can selectivly vote against the ones that are pro KOSA and ACREEN act so these bils won't pass
