Phillipson accuses lawyers of exploiting parents of children with special needs
Education secretary claims lawyers’ criticisms of her department’s policy changes are motivated by profit
What is supremely daft about this line of attack from Phillipson is that any lawyer motivated by profit would not be acting in special needs cases.
There are far more lucrative areas for any lawyer motivated by profit.

Birmingham Moor Street station gives the impression of a toy station that has somehow escaped from a quaint train set and is now hiding, nestled between the inner ring roads and shopping centre of Brum.
Glorious, but it really belongs on a biscuit tin cover.

During World War II, Nazi Germany invaded more than a dozen countries. It subjected the populations of those countries to varying degrees of oppression. At the same time, German propagandists tried to win public support in occupied lands. The propaganda shared enticing visions of a prosperous “new order” in Europe. Nazi Germany claimed it was saving western civilization from “Jewish bolshevism.” However, Nazi brutalities against civilian populations helped to negate the power of those messages
When Hegseth, Rubio, and their ilk talk about saving the Western Civilization from globalization and radical leftism for the benefit of "cultural cohesion" in Europe - it sounds very familiar. exhibitions.ushmm.org/propaganda/1...

When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.
And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.

As journalists working today many of us are taught to recognise disinformation when we see it and fight back against it.
Unfortunately there are some who willingly seek it out and put it on their front pages. A disgrace to the profession.

Shabana Mahmood vows to stick with hardline migration policies after byelection defeat
Home secretary will defy ‘plain wrong’ calls from unions and leftwing MPs that she is alienating Muslim voters
By taking a far-right approach to immigration policy, cracking down on rights and placing it high on the agenda, Labour has not just turned its own voters away
It has mainstreamed far-right politics and strengthened Reform, both politically and electorally
Them doubling down should be unforgivable

Transgender Chicago man hospitalized after saving baby from drowning in Lake Michigan
“I wasn’t going to let that baby die,” Lio Cundiff said.
This 30-year-old transgender man, who can’t swim, jumped into Lake Michigan after a wind gust blew a baby in a stroller into the freezing water.
He’s being called a hero. But now he has medical expenses, and people are donating to a fundraiser to support him.

And every time this happens, unions talk about pay and conditions and VCs issue statements saying they're looking at pay and can't understand why the strikes are going ahead. Pay *and conditions*. Everyone is swamped and overworked.

Yes so — extremely ironically — Labour *still* has by some way the best chance of winning a majority at the next GE but only if it materially changes course.

As the analysis starts of the Gorton and Denton result, I wanted to flag some aspects that my experience yesterday suggests are being over or under-played
(Caveats - I went to Longsight, Gorton and Denton town centres and spoke to as many people as I could, but it was mostly during the working day)

So the candidate who left school at 16 with no A-Levels and who's spent her whole adult life vocational, manual jobs beat the ivory tower academic turned cushy media pundit, but you can be sure we'll still get plenty more casual description of the latter as "white working class".

Spectator headline "The Green party is playing with fire in Gorton" by Ed West.
Dunno Ed, if I had to pick a party in Gorton that's "playing with fire" I think I might take a closer look at the Blood and Soil chaps micro-parsing who gets to call themselves English and flirting with Great Replacement Theory, not the nice Greens lady encouraging brown people to vote.

The media attack line on the Greens seems to all be variations of it being unfair that they directly appealed to Muslim voters, which they describe as "sectarianism". Tells you basically all you need to know about the Overton Window these days.
