The first stage of a Mother’s Day project is out of the kiln. This was my first go round with pressing glass. Most are Tabitha’s murrini on clear tetka with some being glass frit. Overall, I’m pretty tickled. The waffle will smooth out in the fire polish. Stay tuned for round 2!

Fun debate this morning. Does vanilla belong in the batter of French toast? The hubby says “no.” I say “yes.” Either way, there wasn’t a crumb left after breakfast today. Lol.

I bought a bullseye sampler pack when I bought my kiln. In that pack was an unnumbered yellow. I’ve ordered from several suppliers trying to find it without a match, so I called Bullseye directly. They said it was a one off “unicorn.”

I’m not giving up. It’s the perfect sun color yellow!

In a text msg to a work colleague, autocorrect served to remind me that it hates me.
I almost sent a message intended to say, “Flattery will get you everywhere with me. Tell me more about my eyes… lol.”
Autocorrect wrote, “Batteries will get you everywhere with me. Tell me more about the skies.”

For the amount of money charged for airlines like United and American Airlines, one would think you’d be able actually fit in the seats. My friend paid for extra leg room & barely fit in the seat. Absolutely ridiculous. Next we drive versus fly.

It’s 30 degrees outside. I have heat set to 71 degrees & have enough layers on to be Randy from a Christmas Story’s stand in. I know we need winter & the cold for crops, etc. But there should be a law that we all get to hibernate until the temps hit least 50 degrees. Penguins can keep the cold.

These are delightful. I’ve recently been playing with Mica powders. The challenge is the glass spreading that occurs at higher temps and spreading the design out. These are beautiful. 👍👍

I got this brilliant cotton candy pink striker glass, but it doesn’t color shift until it hits the a high enough temp. I ran a test, and it barely tints at my tack fuse. Stay tuned for how I’m going to use it going forward.

Just a little PSA for the glass fusers… using glass that “Strikes” means that the color will change when a specific temperature is hit. Some colors will not strike unless the top melting point is reached. (1480 degrees F.) make sure you do a sample test before doing a larger project.

Pulled Xmas ornaments out of the kiln and they were everything and then some! (My flash was not working on the after shot, so I’m baffled. But you get the idea.)

I don’t claim to be a musical expert, but Lawd, the Target holiday music is awful. It’s a cross between something that should be jazz and the noise a toddler makes on one those xylophone toys. Save. Me.

Soooo… the test taught me what pieces I like at a full fuse and which I like tack fused. These didn’t turn out half bad.

I’m running a test fire at a higher temp with this lot. Hopefully, I’ve figured it out right or else hours of work will literally be pretty puddles. Fingers crossed and a quick prayer to the glass fusing gods. To be continued.
