btw, I hear y’all about wanting bonuses like papers, bookmarks, acrylic stands, etc—I want them too! (I do typically try to include the JP ebook bonus page in our EN print editions)

the highlight of the year was definitely the otaku love connection 01 winning best translation! and then minami and I getting to have a meeting & dinner with the mangaka and editor in tokyo in november! just the hugest honor and I’m still so proud!!

better late than never, here’s my 2025 manga wrapped! (everything I edited that published in 2025)

28 total volumes!! pretty much the same as last year, but lots of new series got underway and a few wrapped up! more new series to come in 2026…

note for yuri/GL fans (since I also edit otherside picnic and edited the last few volumes of wandering witch, which is yuri adjacent): working on that too! but the square enix catalogue doesn’t have a ton at the moment, so this is where you guys come in with any requests!

oh I also need to shout out our EN team who got the vol 16 preview translated and lettered/added so quickly!! I had asked them in advance, so they knew we’d need a fast turnaround and they agreed! thank you to both of them!

and did it feel good to read chapter 80 in october, before japanese readers even got to the next month? I won’t lie… yes, yes it did ☺️ (especially with the crazy cliffhanger at the end of vol 15!! but I’ve read vol 16 and I will just say you don’t need to worry too much!)

I have to say a huge thank you to the japanese editorial team. I got to meet the editor last november and thank him personally and also apologize for causing such trouble with my request. so yeah… please enjoy the v16 preview at the end of v15!!! it’s VERY exclusive!

so I contacted square enix japan and asked if we could get the pages for the next chapter early. they obliged!! but it was soooo down to the wire and we had to scramble to get it all translated and lettered and looking good. it almost didn’t make it!

in this case, we needed to send our vol 15 to the printers by late sept/early oct and volume 16 wasn’t coming out in japan until 11/20. the author tends to draw the entire book at once, so the first chapters of vol 16 were not already out online or anything

we always have to add a next volume preview to fill out the book for the EN edition (each volume of cherry magic is the same length and must be that set page count) but as we’re nearing the end of the series (sob), that next volume’s content may not be available when we need it

can I just say… yall don’t even know the crazy strings I had to pull to get the pages for the chapter 80/volume 16 preview printed at the end of volume 15. you don’t even KNOW!! it was insane

BL at square enix is growing slowly but surely, and adding more is very important to me! 💖
