Brad Lander Is Having a Great Day Ain’t no party like a Zohran Mamdani victory party (attended by New York City comptroller Brad Lander).

Brad Lander IS having a great day

(Also: don’t I always look like an off-duty rock star? ;-)

Shout out to
@lindseyboylan.bsky.social who put it all on the line four and a half years ago and then was hitting the pavement hard since Cuomo got in the race and through today. A portrait in bravery.

Truly an amazing experience campaigning for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social. Support and enthusiasm from the breadth of our wonderful city. Much work to do, but feeling a more community minded NYC coming within our grasp.

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

Rank me #1.
Rank Zohran #2.
Rank the rest of the WFP Slate.
And Don’t Rank Andrew Cuomo.

if your grand approach to politics is bloodless poll-testing so that you're always aligned with wherever public opinion happens to be, you've already lost

Nobody's ever really captured, to my satisfaction, the way that the internet -- though it promises infinitude, all of human experience & history & art & thought in one place -- has instead produced a kind of narrowing & flattening of experience, made the world seem *less* magic & full of wonder.

Love this piece, @vesnajaksiclowe.bsky.social what else can we read to better appreciate 1) access to pop culture in late 80s Yugoslavia and 2) feelings of Yugoslav nostalgia and identity today?

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

With Trump reportedly planning to end the IRS Direct File program, there's no better time to remember how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free.

Every single member of the Columbia administration should step down.

Through their complicity and their cowardice, they've betrayed their faculty, their staff and most of all their students.

There's no way they can lead that university in any meaningful sense from this point on.

I genuinely hope the Democrats who voted to gut communities have an itch on their back they can never scratch and that people boo them everywhere they go.

Extensive Data Shows Punishing Reach of Racism for Black Boys (Published 2018) A study of 20 million children shows the fragility of the American Dream.

folks have asked me, "why silver spring?" there's lots of reasons but here's one: "Even when children grow up next to each other with parents who earn similar incomes, black boys fare worse than white boys in 99 percent of America." You know what city is among the 1%? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
