Imagine
Being barred from toilets
Denied life saving medication
Denied work opportunities
Barred from sport
Barred from clubs
Barred from changing rooms
Just for being yourself.
That's the reality for trans people in the UK.
Trans people are treated as sub human beings in the UK.

It is so hard to be trans right now, yβall. Like, I canβt speak for everyone but Iβm white-knuckling it pretty much constantly at this point. I hope cis people are understanding how much is at stake for us in this moment: Itβs literally our right to exist as ourselves that is being stripped away.

Thereβs nothing more obnoxious than when people celebrate being an asshole or βjust saying what everyoneβs thinkingβ
Yeah, dude, most people have edgy thoughts, and learn to keep them inside. Itβs called control. What youβre doing is like being really proud of constantly shitting yourself.

AFTERTASTE - A Toxic Yuri About Drinking Toxic Yuri
A very intimidating Woman arrives at a yuri bar and orders the most toxic drink on the menu. Her server, Simon, must Serve Her, and She has plans ...
I think maybe some people donβt realize this version of Aftertaste is FREE TO READ
HEY, and all of Aftertaste, except the epilogue, is complete and live on Scribble Hub in addition to the Bsky threads.

Devastating report into trans lives shows we are βstronger togetherβ, says Green leader Zack Polanski
Green party leader speaks out as devastating report makes clear why many Trans+ people might be feeling powerless right now
βThis hostile environment for trans people, where barely a day goes by without a degrading story in the press, or a politician whipping up hatred on social media or in parliament, is having material impacts on trans peopleβs everyday lives.β
Transphobia is institutionalised. We must disrupt it.

Yesterday the NHS banned all under 18 prescriptions of HRT for trans young people.
This ban was justified by 10 new studies that largely stated NO EVIDENCE for under 18s HRT exists.
The study underpinning this played one particular trick.

long stretch of worked roman stone on Hadrian's Wall.
If you ask someone today to name the builder of Hadrian's Wall, they would give you a funny look. But historical memory is odd, and right up to the 1800s we forgot who built it.
Until in 1840 John Hodgson, an obscure Northumbrian clergyman, published the LONGEST footnote in history... 1/22

Remember y'all, even if she's not directly affected by an anti-trans law or ruling, the effect of all of this on a trans woman's life is still a health risk. Both mental health and literal physical health.

Facebook post by Nekima Levy Armstrong:
"Friends, A Breaking News headline just appeared in the Star Tribune, claiming that the national Target boycott ended today. This is false. The writer of the story, Carson Hartzog, is fully aware that the Target boycott was launched in Minneapolis on February 1, 2025. I have spoken to her several times since then, yet she failed to reach out to me, Jaylani Hussein, or Monique Cullars Doty, the three founders of the national Target boycott for the story. Carson even used the photo from our press conference that includes my daughter, Assata Joy and Ms. Rosemary Nevils, an elder in our community, to try to add legitimacy to a bogus story.
I am once again disgusted by the Star Tribune and their attempts to minimize and erase the voices of our community.
The nationwide Target Boycott is not over, unless and until Target reverses its decision to rollback Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as we said from the beginning. βPastorβ Jamal Bryant does not speak for us or our community and has zero authority to end the nationwide boycott of Target, a company that is headquartered in Minneapolis.
Please donβt believe the hype and these attempts to rescue Target from the effects of capitulating to the Trump Administration. Target rolled back DEI because of Donald Trump. They donated $1 million to the Trump/Vance inauguration committee. Target also allowed ICE to stage in its parking lots during Operation Metro Surge.
The nationwide boycott of Target is successful and it will continue. Please continue to shop elsewhere."

I think one of the biggest mindfucks of my job is that when I'm in court and the judge or opposing counsel is misgendering me, given that so many of my cases are pro bono, it can feel like I'm volunteering to be degraded. I'm submitting to this for free. And I hate it.

My name is Marisa Kabas, and I'm an independent journalist who publishes The Handbasket. I'm reaching out about a matter that involves your team and that continues to trouble me.
In June of last year, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and I filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DC Metropolitan Police Department to compel them to release body camera footage from the March 17, 2025 DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace. What followed was months of back and forth with their lawyers, arguing why it was in the public interest to release the un-redacted footage in its entirety. Though tiny segments were handed over, that wasn't enough: We wanted all of it.Β
On February 18, 2026, a DC judge ruled in our favor, and your reporter Mark Segraves sent a kind note of congratulations that day. Then on Monday, March 2nd, the footage was handed over to me and excitedly announced I'd received it and would be reviewing it in the coming days and sharing what I learned. When Segraves emailed me this past Thursday asking for my phone number, I didn't think much of it. But when he called me just before 2pm on Friday to let me know NBC4 Washington would be airing a segment at 5pm, I grew concerned.Β
Segraves said he'd obtained some of the footage via a FOIA request that week after he heard the footage had been released to me. He said he'd credit the work of RCFP and me, but it was little comfort. I asked if he'd known the day before when he emailed me for my number, why didn't he tell me then? He didn't have a good answer for that. He acknowledged all the hard work I'd done getting this footage released. I asked him if he could hold the story until Monday, to which he replied that he's "not just a blogger" (implying that that's all I am, presumably) and that he'd have to check with his editor. I said fine. Nearly an hour later he called back to say his editor refused to hold the story, but that they were happy to interview me via Zoom to add to the package, and I said I would.
What followed was two hours of furiously writing and posting clips of the footage to Youtube so I could get something published before the 5pm broadcast, and in the midst of that, recording a quick Zoom interview with a person who was about to take credit for my work. At 4:59pm ET, The Handbasket published a piece titled "Police body cam footage shows DOGE knew Institute of Peace was private property during raid." Then I tuned into NBC4 Washington via your website to catch the broadcast, and my instinct to rush to get something out first was proven right.Β
"It's a story you're seeing first on News4," your newscast began. "For the first time we're getting an inside look at what happened the day the Trump administration took over the US Institute of Peace. News4 obtained more than four hours of police body camera video from that day." What followed was more than six minutes of clips and commentary from Segraves, but it's not until six minutes and 21 seconds into the piece that he mentions my name (mispronounced though he asked for the correct pronunciation on Zoom), "The Handbasket blog," and the RCFP's foundational role in bringing this footage to light. I was angry, but didn't feel there was much I could do.
Then I saw the version NBC4 posted to Instagram and TikTokβthe video itself made ZERO mention of the RCFP or my work, only briefly acknowledging it in the written caption on Instagram, and not even bothering to do that on TikTok. An average viewer with no background on the case is lead to believe that this footage was released because of your efforts. When I saw that, I decided I couldn't let this go.
It's difficult to explain what it's like to spend nearly a year working on a story only to have another reporter and outlet surreptitiously take credit for it; months of work and personal risk only to have another reporter lying in wait to swoop in. What NBC4 did was immoral, unethical, and to be frank, just truly sucked.
I just sent this email to the news director at NBC4 Washington about the unprofessional and disrespectful way they handled publishing the body camera footage of the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace that was obtained via my FOIA lawsuit:

Medical transition for trans kids is now banned for new referrals on the NHS. Trans kids in the UK can still go private or DIY (for now).
This means the new clinics that replaced GIDS are close to useless at best, conversion therapy at worst. 1/5

I don't wish we could abolish gender, I just wish it were less an identity and more of a hobby. So you'd get people who are like "Oh yeah, l'm a woman when I have the time," or "I'm a man but I'm not very good at it yet" along with the CrossFit gender types who are SUPER INTO IT
