Iโll never forgive them
Well, it was to be expected that Kusano would lose the day after his yusho. Still, a brilliant start into his sekitori career!
15 days in a row is just so effing exhausting, especially when it's your first time. The change from 7 fights in 2 weeks to 15 fights on 15 days is harsh

Winning again with pulling ...
Now I'm annoyed. I don't want a pulling yokozuna. Onosato needs to get his act together ...

OMG! Already juryo yusho! On day 12!
Kusano is writing history! Again!
And what a brilliant fight that was!

Why does Hiradoumi always get away with matta? I don't understand ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
He mainly just needs to heal. People are so hung up on the January basho - in the basho before, he lost to only one maegashira - Abi - and that was a matta the gyoji failed to call.
He looked great this basho in the first few fights until his arm got too bad.
Everybody's talking about how the last time a yokozuna went kyujo in his shin-yokozuna basho was Futahaguro.
But you know who else did? Chiyonofuji.
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
In Hoshoryu's case: he's had cellulitis in his arm since before the basho that has gotten worse. They found loose cartilage floating in his elbow. After the fight with Takayasu, the elbow was locked, Hoshoryu couldn't bend it at all.
No one can fight in that state ...
They can't just drop out because they're just not feeling like it. This is their job. They need a doctor's note about what prevents them from participating (and estimates about how long recovery time may be).
I wonder how Takayasu's son feels.
On the one hand, his dad one a great, important bout.
On the other hand, his favorite rikishi just lost a great, important bout.
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
I agree, his defaulting to pull-sumo is a huge weakness that he needs to overcome.
Not sure if he could have saved this bout, but it sure didn't help ...
OMG that tachi-ai!
And bravo Takayasu, that was excellent!
What a bout!
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
Look at Asakoryu trying to nodowa someone who doesn't even have a neck ๐
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
Hakuyozan and his effing dame-oshi.
I despise that man ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
I'm sad for Hoshoryu but happy he has a reasonable shisho who was able to talk some sense into him ...
The yokozuna will heal and come back strong, and I'm looking forward to that!
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
sure, you always have to be prepared for Chiyoshoma to henka. I just didn't think he'd do it against the yokozuna. Neither did the yokozuna ๐
Yes! Tenrosei's uncle! I knew you would have heard about him!
The audacity to henka a yokozuna ๐
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
WTF Kotozakura, you had several opportunities to win this!
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
I read up on him a bit, he's actually from the same stable as Yokozuna Asashoryu!
Anyway: he looks like he's lost quite a bit of weight. I hope he's ok ...
Shishi is turning more and more into a freak. I hope he'll stop his weird pre-tachi-ai behavior, because I can't support whatever that is ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
Wow, Tohakuryu with the big ego. I'm happy Hokutofuji dealt with it appropriately ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
The thing about Hiradoumi's speedy tachi-ai is that he is often too speedy, but the matta doesn't get called, and while I love Hiradoumi, that is something that annoys me ...
Excellent pun! Bravo!
Interesting match between the yokozuna and Wakamotoharu. They call it a kubinage. I didn't know "kubi" meant bottocks ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
It's utterly bizarre to see Hokutofuji fight at this time of the day ...
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
OMG look at my baby Mudoho, he can actually make sekitori this basho! That was a good fight against Mita!
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
Now there is the yokozuna!
#sumo #ๅคง็ธๆฒ #ๆฅๅ ดๆ
Many do. Some even change mid-basho if the basho isn't going well.
But then again, we're talking about men who throw salt for good luck. They even have some salt handy in the low divisions, so that the yobidashi can throw salt on the dohyo after a rikishi got injured during a bout.
