Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.
I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Family pets are being left behind at Southern California shelters as their families face deportation. At Carsom Animal Care Center, dogs like Bruce and Coco are quiet, confused, and up for adoption. Shelter staff say they've seen emotional goodbyes as families forced to leave the U.S.
Black women’s unemployment is rising (Economists say it’s a warning sign. New data released Thursday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics marked the third straight month of high unemployment rates for Black women): 19thnews.org/2025/07/blac...
The GOP excels in using a united message that is easy to understand, spread easily, and causes massive fear, as seen with the push against all things DEI and immigration. How about Dems say, “Trump and heartless conservatives back a billionaire who wants to take your job and replace you with AI.”

"The National War Dog Cemetery is a memorial to war dogs located at Naval Base Guam and is the first official war dog monument in the U.S. The cemetery honors the dogs—mostly Doberman Pinschers—that were killed in service with the United States Marine Corps.. "
I’ll miss Charlie Rangel, a beloved icon and public servant of New York.
He was a proud veteran who loved serving his Harlem constituents. He urged me to run for the Senate and later was an invaluable colleague.
Rest in peace and power, my friend.
Where did you get this?
"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

Who would replace Schumer as the minority leader of the Senate Democrats? Apart from Schumer’s perceived weaknesses or shortcomings, why do you think this person would be a better choice? I’m genuinely interested in hearing diverse opinions, so please repost your thoughts.
Who would you replace him with?
Just heard the sad news of the passing of the man who brought the sunshine. RIP Roy Ayers 🕊
Republicans are too chickenshit to hold town halls. Shocker.
Here’s an idea: Democrats, hold town halls in Republican districts.
I am cancelling my Washington Post subscription. I am looking for recommendations for replacements. Liberal sources, I am sure, will be recommended. I also wouldn’t mind a conservative-angled one that has the courage to stand up for what’s right.
One thing (among others) that I worry about with Trump. It’s his inability to apologize and refusal to say he made a mistake. There is no off-ramp to pin this stuff, so all he can do is double down and think something magically will make him look like a genius.
I’m seeing a growing mistake. It’s not Musk doing this—it’s Trump allowing it. Musk is acting with Trump’s approval. Trump also handpicked a group of yes-men, people who can’t say, “You’re wrong.” When you ignore what’s wrong and enable a bully, you lose respect that will never return.
I know nothing about this but I will watch simply because the original Henry Hampton series is among the best things I’ve ever seen

Black Trump supporters, don’t you feel compelled to side-eye him at least once for unapologetically denigrating another Black person? Black MAGA men, don’t you push back when MAGA acolytes disrespect a Black woman, regardless of her politics? REPOST IF YOU AGREE
A black man with dreads next to his art work of a face made through the lens of graffiti and street art

Jean-Michel Basquiat
He gave the world graffiti, street art, and neo-expressionism through his lens. His art adorns museums all over the world and in the private collections of those who can afford it. In 2017, a piece sold for $110,000,000 - a record price for art by a black artist 🔥

Today in history, 1979: Frank Peterson becomes the first African American general in the Marine Corps. Told when he enlisted that he’d make a great steward, Peterson vowed to become a combat pilot and entered the Naval Aviation Cadet Program. /1
I just posted an idea on my page that I hope you and others on this platform start using to fight against these shortsighted, poorly carried-out, heartless, dictatorial, discriminatory, and outright un-American actions. Repost if you believe it could work!
