A belated #PhycologyFriday post & small landmark for my job at Kelp Rescue Initiative: a gametophyte culture grown from spores of Bull #Kelp we restored with #greengravel last summer in K’omoks territory, which we seeded our first f/2 #restoration outplants with this week at VIU’s Deep Bay station!

The Jackson Laboratory is preparing to construct a $24 million addition on its main building in Bar Harbor and expects to hire 95 more people to work in the new space.
The deep sea is not a void and we know this. It’s not a metabolically-inert black box. Further understanding deep sea carbon dynamics and how increased DOC+POC flux influences these communities will be critical. We need to know how much carbon actually stays, and at what cost to these ecosystems.
